Deq catalyst heater ready?

Took my 2005 to get tags today. They were having trouble with something and ended up hooking up a hand-held scanner to the car twice. Two other guys come over and the three talked for a minute. Then one comes to me and asks if the ecu has been re-mapped. I played dumb and told him I bought the car this way and asked why. He told me there was a catalyst heater monitor that showed it was "ready" when it shouldn't have been. He said it was there to tell if the ecu has been tuned. I've taken this car through Deq twice before and it has always flown through with no problems. Is this something new they're doing and how are they doing it?

Evo 9 and 8 do not have a catalyst heater. I suggest you have you ecu fixed so that it does not show that "ready". It does not exist on that car from the factory.

Yeah, I'm aware it shouldn't be there. I guess what I'm after is, why now when I haven't had this problem before and have made no changes. And also, how to get rid of it.
