Hey Al can you explain the features of the Hydra when it comes to knock control?

The Vipec has the best start and idle I have seen with any ecu and is as good as stock in these areas.

Same as the AEM - the user defines a threshold beyond which the ecu starts to pull timing and add fuel

The main advantage over a stock ecu is that you can adjust the threshold which is a problem with the stock ecu when the background noise of the motor is beyond what the stock threshold is set for

With a standalone you can set the threshold to match the noise level of the motor

Of course, the ultimate solution is to customize the knock sensor as well to match the harmonics of the particular engine but that gets into a lot of expensive R & D which is not practical for the normal customer

Best to send it to Hydra to update the firmware to the newest version 2.6 - many more features

That's impressive considering it was done on the stock suspension, you gotta have at least 20whp locked up in some coilovers.

Today we added the Buschur ported throttle body and the Buschur ported intake manifold and we picked up over 30 WHP

At 34 psi we are now making 609 TQ and 706 whp -

Video and dyno sheet to come

I am not sure if the suspension has any effect on the dyno but certainly the stock suspension is contributing to the car blowing off the tires in 2nd and 3rd gear from a roll on the street

The car appears 100% stock from the outside and is in mint condition - its a real treat

Best Evo I have tuned to date for a street car for sure

Excellent work Al. Great to see the FS635 belting out some very comparable numbers as the HTA86.

I had just purchased Davids custom kit off of his RS, and chose the FS635. I was torn between the FS635 or opting for the HTA82 and upgrading it into the HTA86. Great to hear and see good feedback from you , who have worked with both setups and conclude them to be very comparible

It seems that these two units are nearly identical in power level and spool up. Of course a true A - B test has yet to be concluded but I could endorse either turbo as the ultimate street turbo for any 2 - 2.5 L 4 banger

Frankly, a car making 700 plus whp on PUMP gas with that kind of low end TQ and boost response is simply amazing

This car still retains power steering, water pump and a.c belts so this kind of power is on the fpar if not more than what my race car makes at 34 psi

In fact it takes over 46 psi for my race car to make 800 whp on C16 on the same dyno

The FS635 seems like a nice turbo. One question you say pump gas but it has meth? So what is it pump gas and........? Or is were these pulls with the meth off.

I amj asking myself the serious question at this time - WHY would anyone install a large intake manifold and racing throttle body on a street evo ? The results of this car suggest that a ported TB and stock intake manifold can make as much power as a racing sheet metal intake while maintaining stock like idle and driveability.

When driving and starting this car it is as smooth as a car with the stock ecu and stage IV

This car really is making me wish I never had made my Evo into a race car

Now I must get my STI making 700 whp on meth and pump = now its stuck at 630
