My old GT35R vs. my new PTE 6262

Well finally getting around to posting up the dyno graph after Sean tuned my Evo Sat morning before TNT in Sac.

This is obviously not a direct comparison as we did not remove and replace the 35R w/ the 6262 the same day but it does give a fair comparison in regards to spool and also top end power.

Sean kept the variables as close to each other as possible so all the runs were done w/ 38psi of boost pressure and both are done in 3rd gear.

The inlets for each were still standard 4 bolt T3 flanges and i'm using my old Tial 38mm WG off my old kit that Jesse relocated to the collector since it was previously run off the turbine housing.

Anyway here are the stats on each turbo:

Garrett DBB GT35R
- Non-hta
- Water cooled
- 5-bolt housing
- 0.63 A/R
- Bullet style anti-surge comp housing

Precision Turbo & Engineering 6262
- Billet compressor wheel
- Air-cooled
- V-band outlet housing 2.5"
- 0.82 A/R
- Ported shroud anti-surge comp housing

And now for the dyno graph ovrelay of the 2 turbos: (solid = 6262 / dotted = 35R)

Unfortunately this tune ended up being on the righ side as it tends to be off the dyno in comparison to logging AFR's at the track.

So Sean leaned it out a bit and it seemed to have picked up a good amount of HP so i'd safely say that the car makes right at 600 AWHP on our Mustang Dyno!

looks good, pretty smooth graph you got there, enjoy the power. did the set-ups change over the change of turbos?

First off...
Thank you Pat for sharing this with us. Highly appreciated! Especially since I just bougth a 6262! haha

Second...
You compared a DBB GT3582RS-P to a Journal Bearing PTE 6262-SP right?

Thirdly...
You compared the 35R with the .63 A/R housing to the 6262 w/the .82AR.

I'm impressed. It seems we get to keep our cake AND eat it too!

THANK YOU PAT AND FULL-FUNCTION TECHNOLOGY!

The 6262 as always performs.. Even in .82 vs. .63 it took the 35r to school!!! Nice work!!

Ernie

Actually it is a Ball-bearing (ceramic) 6262 not a Journal Bearing

Funny thing is i'm still running an AMS (street) I/C..........been tinking of going bigger but don't really see iat's skyrocket unless we're racing in the heat of summer in Sacramento

Sorry i couldn't say as we have not tried that.

Our PTE rep actually wanted me to run the 6262 w/ the 5 bolt PTE discharge in .63 size but i told them i was more concerned w/ top end power and not so much spool but it looks like i got a bit of both

I'd guesstimate a few hundred sooner but that's pure speculation based off other similar sized turbos and the effects of going to a smaller/bigger turbine housing.

Thanks Chris!

I was actually worried after making the purchase and speaking to a few others about the turbo but i'm happy for what it is and does for my combo.

I am curious to see what would happen if i threw on say an FP 3586 HTA though as on paper it's a bigger turbo probably more similar to the 6765 as other have stated in the past but i think that's a bit much for what i intend to do

It's fun to post up reviews of new stuff and comparisons but it's damn sure time consuming and costly

I still want to try the 6765 but I also figure Robert at FP will not let PTE be top dog in the t3 arena forever. (hi robert)
