There is definitely more airflow and power in it, based on the boost, RPM, and 2.4L engine. But not too much more boost at redline for the red.

I'm not sure what the intake temps were like, but at about 50F, if Dave revs that motor out to 9k, the red won't be able to hold much more than around 20psi. Of course this depends on exact VE and temps, etc...but just as a ballpark. The higher the temps, the more boost it will hold.

From what I saw even the Black really wouldnt hold out to 9k. The 86 on my car (2.2) peaks power at 7600 or so and drops 30whp to 9200. For this to make power all the way to 9k or at 9k, its going to need a fairly aggressive turbo.

Congratulations on the power guys...that thing is gonna be a straight monster on the streets.

4088 and 4094 are turds. Can make more power and faster spool up out of most of the 35R variants that are out there.

Very impressive!
Would slightly larger valves give any more power without delaying the boost?

Awesome power for a DD. That thing will rip with a larger turbo.

20gmr, I need a guy like you to bring a car here for a big turbo build using this block, give us a call so we can schedule your build asap!

Some bit about the build. Yes, it is using a 100mm billet crank, yes it uses the standard length 150mm rod and the bore is 87 mm.

This gives this engine a piston speed of 5249 at 8,000 rpm and a 1.5 rod ratio.

At 9,000 rpm the piston speed climbs to 5905, which is getting up there but based on the strength of the crank, rods and pistons for short burst the thought is it's going to be OK. Obviously it was built or designed to hang at 9,000 rpm for extended periods. This engine, with a Red will never need to see that kind of RPM and obviously from looking at the dyno chart the is no reason to attempt to dyno it that high either, power is coming down at 7500 rpm already.

For reference a 2.0/2.1 liter at 10,000 rpm has a piston speed of 5766. The 2 liter has a 1.7 rod ratio and our 2.1 has a 5.77 rod ratio.

This was the first 2.4 build and we'll see how it goes. I am impressed with the torque and how the engine feels.

I know the idea was to build this to use in a higher RPM/HP build, that didn't happen and this is the first chance I've had to use it in any car. Everyone gets hung up on RPM and "how high can I rev it?" Fact is most guys are running their car past where they should be in the first place and that's why many of them turn crappy track times.

.

As nice as it would be to not have to worry about getting rear ended when I merge I have too many 2.0 parts to not build one.

My car is only a few supporting mods away from being perfect for this testing tho. 73 lb/min (secret) turbo BR head w/cossie m3's, BR TBE.......

Its at 100% duty cycle on 1000cc's with alky as well so obviously fuel is the next step. This setup yeilded 514whp on CBRD's mustang dyno. I believe it was recently broken but this did hold CBRD's stock ECU record for a period of time.

If you get a chance Pm me with what you had in mind.

Aaron's right, on my 4g64 build the FPBlack falls off in airflow after about 7500; from my experiance, there would be no advantage to reving it out that far. A larger turbo is needed to keep the 2.4 supplied at higher rpms.
