2nd highest horsepower stock turbo?

So our tech Jake put together a 10:1 150mm rod 2.4 over the winter. We have about 220 miles on it so last night we took it to the dyno to see what it can do.

Mods-

2005 RS
Stock IX turbo
ER 2.4
GSC S2s
FP Beehives
JE 86.5mm 10:1 pistons
Eagle rods
Balance shaft delete
Cometic HG
FIC 1100cc high impedance injectors
New 255 and fuel filter
Minor bowl work on head, stock valves
Ported exhaust manifold
Ported intake manifold
QTP O2 dump
ER test pipe dump
Stock throttle body
Stock cat back
Modified FP 18psi WG actuator
Omnipower 4 bar
ER Tune

New sensor for both the WB and the MAP sensor

So we started making pulls, got the timing and AFRs dialed and then put it to it. Here are the results-

The next highest horsepower stock turbo car I found was Most Wanted who put down 468/492 ( https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/6592932-post561.html ). I didnt see a dyno graph so I cant compare the two but this thing is a beast. This is still straight WG line, since Jake wanted more miles on it before we really started spiking the boost.

The FICs allowed me to run one pump, E98, and still be around 95% IDC on Evoscan. So there is really still some more in it even on this "big block". I'll get some screenshots of the logs in a bit. I know it isnt going to make much more power with more boost, but it will bring the torque up. You can tow with this thing now if you had to

great, but tell me you are going to a big turbo soon to support that 2.4? Looks like an STI stock turbo fall off after 5,500 rpm!

haha that's nuts, 470+awhp but falls to 350awhp, looks like the boost is holding steady to redline at that pressure. So I'm curious about your thoughts on what's causing the massive drop? hot turbo, dismal timing??

This will be getting a T67 in the near future. This was just to see what it would do and to test some ideas for some rally engines we want to do.

The reason it falls off is big motor little turbo with a lot of things to help it breathe. I actually played with timing and even went past MBT to see if it would come up out the top. That is all airflow (CFM) though and not timing. It doesnt make power past 17* at all, the blue line is actually at 19* but as you can see it didnt do anything. EGTs are actually low like you'd expect on an E85 car so I dont even think back pressure is a problem. Luke made 506 on his 2.0 10:1 with pretty much the same mods except for a lot higher spike (this has none right now) and an electric waterpump. His also had some crazy timing in it trying to get every last bit when it was it in that incarnation.

The powerband isnt as bad as it looks when you break it down.

400 ft lbs from 3500-6000, 400whp from 4500-7000.

That looks like a nice road race setup Aaron. Is that why you stoped at 24 PSI? The TQ dips a little at 4k then comes back strong.

Correct, once we get some miles on it we'll throw some more boost at it to get the torque up and if the initial spike holds some more out the top (this car used to run 26 to 8k with the modded WG on the 2.0) at least at peak power we might get some more power. Not sure if thats gonna happen but we can definitely make the torque down low.

There is no boost controller on the car, that is straight wastegate line so what it is doing is creeping. If you look close at the boost plot its 22 something right there low and then creeps to 24.3 out the top.

Working on getting the logs up right now

In talking with Jake, it sounds like this weekend at the dyno day he is going to start making this thing do work.

Wow, even to put a boost controller on this and see how early it'd make 25psi would be sweet, stump puller!

What do those #'s look like corrected as thats how most wanted #'s were ran STD smoothing 3???

No disrespect but in your weather right now you must be on .97 correction at minimum..

We just made over 700 uncorrected on FP black but i didnt post about it since its 40 degrees here and we use standard STD like AMS and the rest..

btw.. Im not trying to start any trouble.. Just want to see your opinion..

thanks!!

Mike, I will doublecheck when I go to the dyno tonight. I believe set like that it was 467 corrected, but I am not sure on the smoothing. I will post that up as well as results from the weekend as we get them. Don't worry I knew you meant well and I didnt take it like it was anything else .

Of interest to some, we are also going to throw a 34mm restrictor on it to see what it would do in rally trim.
