Not a bad turbo, but basically is a 3076R CHRA with cut down compressor and turbine wheels.

Hopefully, I finally figured out how to register my car so that's it's smog exempt in California before I went with the obvious parts if I got my hood popped, so im looking forward to it, The car has 100k miles so that's why I decided to build it up, it's also getting a full on paint job to freshen it up, so when it's all said and done I should have number's up by Dec, maybe sooner. The only part I was on the fence with was S2's or S3's

Well im kind of stuck with a stock framed turbo because I already bought the shearer parts and megan downpipe for a stock framed set-up. I was toying with the Idea of a AMS 900x kit before I went with the stock framed idea. We dont have super long stretches of road in my area, so something that spools up fast and holds power to redline is ideal, which is what the HKS 7460 does, I actually started buying parts with this turbo in mind when I first heard about it.

Im still debating on sending my s2's back for s'3s but Im not sure if they will choke this turbo or not.

Sean, is the turbine housing bigger on the HKS turbo? Also, does this turbo surge at all, spooling up that fast seems like surge may be an issue...

No surge at all which was great. They did their homework on the aero of the comp wheel.

Turbine housing is bigger for sure, and looks to be a high heat resistant material.

WOW.
i was thinking of black but you cant beat the spool and power number on this HKS.
This is prob my next turbo. Black is little to laggy, even my red is too lagy.

Spool is very nice. Power wise, it's 36whp more than an evo 8 turbo, which is about 20-25 more than an evo 9 turbo maybe? that's not much... unless maybe at higher boost (maybe 28-29 psi on 93 oct?) it will have bigger gains than a stock turbo at this boost level?

Thank you for the test, as said earlier spool is very nice.

Did you not look at the dynos? The OP made 380whp on a stock turbo maxxed out and made 100more whp. It also made 500wtq. This is not even on an optimized setup with stock o2 housing!
