Stock cams VS GSC s3 --- WOWSERS!!!

Big shout-out to Aaron from English racing who enticed me with great info!!

We decided to run a back to back cam test featuring stockers vs the gsc s3's... This is an "Average Joe" evo ix on 93 pumpgas. Great gains for swapping a pair of bumpsticks.

The test subject;
2006 evo ix
pte 6262
pte 1200cc injectors
rnr ramhorn manifold
stock intake manifold/stock tb
weisco/eagle
spoolinup COP
pos 3" ebay intercooler
3"exhaust
E-Spec tuned Stock ECU on SD

60hp gain at the same boost!!!!

More impressive, is that these cams made more power at Lower boost!!

Comparing run files/boost plots, it's clear to see these puppies are breathing much better.

Click for vid--

Next step up is an intake manifold/tb and intercooler!! Then we can really see these cams in action!

Very nice. You might label the runs or id them for everyone else though.

6262 always makes great numbers on low oct fuel, its just a shame its so damn laggy. id take the hta86 over it just because of the lag. hta86 is the best of both worlds.

Little confusing but it looks good! Hopefully they sound mean as hell too

I think I'm going S3's on my build; I'll have to see if Aarons getting them.

Are the S3's only for the IX head, or are they doable in an VIII as well? Can these just be slapped in or do they require valvetrain mods?

A journal bearing 6262 is also $1,000 less than the hta86 --- I guess that allows room for buying the cams, the intercooler piping, AND the catback. Sometimes you have to weigh out ALL of the options in a budget build.

Sorry if it was a but of a mess, i was between tuning sessions,,,

The 462hp graph is on stock cams at 30psi.

The 475hp graph is on s3's a few days later at 25psi.

The 502hp graph is on s3's at 28psi.

The 520hp graph is on s3's at a matching 30psi. That's a great bang for the buck!!

Sometimes we target the best combo per dollar spent instead of purchasing the 1 best all out part. Not always the best route to go of course, but it keeps guys content at higher power levels much quicker with the same budget.

I see you've been pretty busy on evom-- I've been so jammed up that I haven't had time to share with the community-- Expect a few more posts over the next few days!!

Honestly that power band looks pretty good for a 2.0 and 280 cams.

never hurts to have 2 roads to cross. for alittle bit of lag to make 100whp more on the same budget id take the lag also. just change your driving characteristics and problem solved, especially on a 2L

ya ive been doing a lot of random stuff lately lol. meanwhile my own car is detuned and needs my help.

Lost a lot of low end but seems appropriate if all you're looking for is top end power.
