I'd like to ask for a moment of silence for my 2.5.
The shaft snapped in half and sent pieces of the comp wheel into my AMS FMIC. So I guess a moment of silence for that too LOL.

Was a great turbo for the few miles it lasted.

so there are more people having issues with these turbos?

I bought mine used. I can't say how it was treated before I bought it. I also had a faulty DV that wasn't relieving pressure very well. So, I can't say why it died. I've never seen a shaft snap before.
I had it rebuilt. The customer service was awesome, the turn around time was great, and I got a nice upgrade, due to a change in the design.
Now we'll see how it goes.

Most obvious is a surge port compressor housing. It sure is pretty.

4G64/R2s/E85

Finally made the switch to speed density and E85 but the walbro 400 appeared to have the same limits as a walbro 255 with out re-wiring it.. power-wise it feels great but in terms of spool it was really lagging.. granted this is a pretty large stock appearing turbo i knew it was going to be a little on the laggy side but wow...

~Mod List~
4G64 Short Block w/BSE (8:6:1 CR)
Eagle 100mm crank
Manley Rods/Pistons/ .20 bore
GSC R2s
(E85) Walbro 400 fuel Pump
FIC Bluemax 1450cc inj.
M2 performance 3” TBE
Spoolinup COP
Muse O2 dump
Works 65mm TB
Agency Power BOV
STM 3" SD Intake
Hallmen MBC
Nisei Intercooler/LICP/UICP
Stock Intake Manifold
Ported exhaust manifold
Ported MAP EF4 turbo w/ Anti-Serg cover/turbo smart WG

Ran out of Fuel Pump at 29PSI

talk to Jay about my setup. i'm close to your power on 1450s and a 255. do you have other issues that would be making your run out of fuel??

I ran my wally 450 up to 760whp or so on my 6266, guessing you other limitations. Yes, hardwire to get most out of it naturally.

My Fuel Pump is my issue.. I have a STM re-wire kit but if i run it I'm almost certain that i will over-run my FPR.

The simplest way to fix the issue is to buy a double pumper..

Another way I've been looking into is a fuel pump rewire with high/low voltage circuit which basically a uses OE concept but in uses another relay with high voltage directly from the battery...(this is my basic understanding and is a lot cheaper)

I agree with the other guys. Something isn't right. Wally 400 should get you around 650 whp and being your on a 2.4 and only making 500 wheel something is definitely wrong. Maybe he tuned your car super safe and has less timing or your afr's are still a little rich tough to say but that is really low for this turbo in my opinion. Hell even when I had it tuned the first time with the numbers in my sig, it was suppose to be laggy. I made 420 whp on a bad slipping clutch on wastegate pressure and hit full boost by 4800 rpms on a mustang dyno and I am still on a stock block. Mind you my tune isn't fully complete and I have no timing into my car at all. I think I am around 6* of timing currently so yeah sounds like there is another problem or it is tuned super conservative.

My entire fuel system is stock, unmodified 255, and FIC 1450s on a 2.0 block. I'd have to ask Jay what my duty cycle is....but it's reasonable at 28-30psi on a ef2.5 and I think we're around 479whp or so.

**edit. I did the math..my rule of thumb for injectors is cc/2=whp. If you take that and deduct 30% for e85, that's 500....so I guess that is right. Time for larger injectors, my friend!

Injectors aren't it either I don't think.

On my 2.2L I maxed out at 630whp or so on E85 with a wally 450 and 1300cc injectors. There are a lot of other restrictions this car has.

I had fuel feed line (6AN), AFPR, boomba fuel rail and I modified my return in my basket to reduce pressure.

Instead of getting new injectors or spending money on a new pump it might make sense to upgrade other parts of your fuel system. Just saying.

Yes, do that with a good pressure switch.
