UPDATE-

Did a housing change from the 0.82 to an 0.63 without changing anything else in the setup. Cams are still the same, I let it go a little richer out the top in this road race application than I had before, but other than that very similar. From some recent EGT testing we have done we can see a definite need to run road race cars rich. This has been the common sense thing for awhile, but with the data we have the reason why is even more clear.

Anyway-

Spool is 350 rpm faster, and at a 11whp loss up top (which could be being a full point richer), I cant really see much of a sacrifice at 22-23psi. At 26psi though it was down about 20 from where it was.

Why we changed the housing

I asked Aaron at Engligh Racing to replace the .82 A/R housing on the HTA3076 turbo so we can experiment with where the power comes on. At the track the .82A/R with the GSC S1 cams, the spool was late enough that I wondered how the .63 housing would do. Based on the power curve from English Racing's Dyno with the .63 A/R housing, I'm expecting this setup to be more driveable and the loss of 20 WHP at 26lbs of boost isn't a problem because the car only runs 26 lbs of boost on the dyno. I typically track the car at 22lbs of boost.

If I ever built the heads to rev to 9K rpms, I would consider the .82 A/R housing and GSC S2 cams. With the 8K rpm limit now and the tracks here in the NW, the .63 A/R housing and the S1 cams appear to be the ideal setup. Track testing will commence soon. Considering running the Ridge in WA on the 21st, and ORP on the 28th.

92 oct and 95 oct. Aaron tunes for 92 and the gradual build up of heat during sessions generates some knock that I take care of by running 95 oct. I mix 1 gal of VPR MS109 with 4 gals of pump 92.

We've talked about E85 but I'm going to finish the year running race gas and discuss options during the winter.

Since I was busy with the Subaru, I didnt get a chance to explain that we may have found another cause besides the heat built. Some creative re-engineering by Jake and I think its going to be ALOT better.

I tracked the car at Oregon Raceway Park on the 28th and 29th of April 2012. The housing change made a noticeable improvement in spool and power on corner exit. Was able to turn a 2 minute lap at ORP which is fast for me while still sorting out the track. Car ran really well. +1 forEngligh Racing . I'll run at PIR this friday the 4th of May. The track will be configured for no chicane so I can test on a longer straight.

I was looking to see if you ever reported your thoughts on the TRE diff but couldn't find anything. Did you ever get it?
