Cool Mellon Racing - Marty's Evo 8 * Stock Turbo * 93oct and E85 Results

Mellon Racing - Marty's Evo 8 * Stock Turbo * 93oct and E85

Name: Marty
Forum Name: MitsuMarty
Location: St. Charles, MO
2003 EVO 8 5-speed USDM
HKS 272 Cams
FIC 1450 cc Injectors
3" TBE HKS with Cat
HKS Filter
Greddy Rs
Custom Intake, UICP and LICP piping
93 oct @ 25 PSI
E85 @ 28 PSI
VD on 93 oct 319Hp/323Tq
VD on E85 388Hp/372Tq

We Road Tuned Marty's Evo he wanted a 93 octane Tune and an E-85 also , the car has some basic mods wich include the HKS 272 Cams . so before tuning the car i went ahead and installed the FIC 1450cc Injectors so we could have enough room for E-85 Tuning , during the tuning we noticed there was some smoke coming out form the exhaust like if the turbo was needing a rebuild.
Back to wrenching lol good thing they had another Evo 8 Turbo available , the swap was made and up we go in power problem solved , on 93 octane 319hp / 323 Tq and on E85 388hp / 327 Tq.

93 octane Results

E- 85 Results

i have a similar car, heres my question for you:
stock evo 8 turbo with the 10.5 hot side (05 evo)
hks 272 cams
FIC 1050's
Aeromotive 340 pump
Full hard piping
perrin 3.5 intercooler
full intake
Hallman BC
running on Speed Density on e85 on 21 pounds
i made 307whp on a mustang dyno

my questions:
everyone i have asked says that on e85 21 pounds is stupid low and should be at like 27-28, what do you think about 21 pounds and making 307whp, does it seem right?

At 21 psi you will not be held back with pump gas much. At least 25 psi or more on e85 to get the #'s you want.

thats what I'm so confused about, why would i be tuned to such a low amount of boost?
is there any reason that i am just too blind to see. I'm looking around and i see stock turbo 9.8 hot sides running 6-7 more pounds of boost than i am on my "bigger 8 turbo" with the 10.5

I spike 30-31 psi. No reason what so ever to have to run that boost unless for some reason the owner prefers. I've ran 30 psi for a year with no issues as many have done it longer. You're missing a whole lot of hp
