evo 8 stock block HTA3582 93oct 29psi

This is vinNybXx's evo.

Mod list:

fp hta3582 .82 A/R
tubular manifold + tial 44m with dump
ETS 3.5 fmic
ETS intake K&N filter
ETS upper/lower
greddy type-s
hks 272 ( he thinks - although there wasn't any lope even at idle with 800rpm & 8*)
id1000
walbro 255
greddy ti exhaust
hallman mbc
Tephra v7 maf/mbc

previously put down 449/339 on the other tune on a real dynojet.

New numbers & before and after tune results to get an idea of gains below:

28psi on old tune vs 29psi on new tune. (not the same day comparison, but you get the idea -

owner will respond im sure and let you know he felt gains everywhere.. even downlow at spool area as the graph suggests. I spent about 3 hrs on this tune.

No wideband on this vehicle, so i kept the afr very rich for safety purposes. There should be more power left in this vehicle with a leaner mixture.

Next mods will be wideband and possibly a 3 port if i can convince the owner to get it.. with a 3 port i will be able to control the tq more and give more hp at upper powerband which will allow for safer peak HP without to much tq punch.

I'll share the AFR curve after the owner installs the wideband to show you guys how close it is even without a AFR read out.. i think you'll be surprised how close i can get it.

Here is smoothing 10 -

Great work, and I think it's a fantastic idea to VD the car before/after your tune, as most cars come to you with a 'professional tune' already loaded.

Tom thanks for the great tune again, yes very noticable gains everywhere in the curve even though I dont have a AFR gauge yet its amazing how great the car feels right now and its not even 100% finished yet. And I will be trying out the 3port hopefully to keep the tq down and shoot for 530whp.

How did you know the afr was rich without a wb? In 3 hours theres no way you were reading the plugs between pulls...

there's no way of knowing, but since ive done so many evos i know what i can get away with and what i cant.

mid fuel trims were where they should be, typical stft activity, and low.. o2 voltage etc.

however, i entered the tune not knowing there was no wideband onboard, and when i was told there wasnt i just figured whatever.. i dont want to upset the owner, plus told him im confident we can safely get it dialed in to atleast a leaner state but still on the rich side.

based on the ignition timing the vehicle took, its on the rich side.

damn thats good, i want to use a hta35 on a stock block and then turn up the boost when i rebuild the motor.

i know its asked a billion times, but i hear different things too often to be sure. is it safe to run a hta35 on a stock block? i plan on using apr headstuds and a better head gasket with the turbo. also gsc s2 cams and appropriate springs

35r is fine yes. actually to me the more laggy the turbo is the safer on the stock block, because quick spool is what creates easy torque.. if you avoid the quick spool or high boost at lower rpm you can control the torque pretty well.

keep the torque under 400wtq and it should last a long time on the stock block as long as the engine has no history of prior abuse.

ARP headstuds are fine for replacing the stock head bolts.. but not completely necessary imo.. also stick with the OEM hg on the 4g63 block.. its very much so proven with very high HP applications.
