Evo 6266 vs 6466 comparison
Well, about a month ago I had an issue with my 6266 so I sent it back for warranty work
When I sent my turbo back, I talked to PTE about the upgrade to the 6466. We worked out a darn good deal so I went for it. I figured me and my shop I have do most of my work could get actual, back to back testing on the same set up between these two amazing turbos.
Keep in mind my set up is still very mild:
RS Motors built 2.0 (.040+, O-Ringed, 9:1 compression)
PTE 6466 turbo
AMS V Band Turbo kit (Recirculated o2)
TiAL 44mm wastegate
Kelford 272 cams
GSC Beehive Springs and Retainers
Stock ports in the head
Stock intake manifold
Stock throttle body
FIC 2150 injectors
DIY Double Pumper
DIY Coil on Plug
Hallman MBC
Synapse BOV
ETS 4" FMIC
Quartermaster 8 Leg (race version)
GReddy Ti Exhaust
Here's the comparison graph (sorry just a picture he sent me so I dont have numbers on it):
6466 is the solid 6266 is the dotted. The 6266 made 613whp on this graph, the 6466 only made 597
Boost was close to 32psi on both turbos, the 6266 had a spike to ~35 that I actually fixed when I switched to the 6466. This was really all I had pushed the 6266 to since I was on 1450 injectors.
Once Ron worked his magic and did some more tuning we ended up with the 6466 final graph:
The solid line, to our surprise is the 6466! It actually outspooled the 6266. Ron thought they actually sent the wrong turbo back since it spooled almost the same, but really didn't make more power per psi of boost like we both thought a bigger turbo should. Now this could be due to my particular set up, I'm not sure if the Recirculated o2 housing is causing back pressure issues or what, probably a combination of things.
But frankly at this point I don't really care to keep spending money to find what it is. I'm so so happy with the power it has made thus far on a mild build.
I wish I would've had the 2150's for a better comparison on both turbos all out
We just had our Spring Dyno Day at DB Performance here in Rogers, MN
Uncorrected Dyno Dynamics (Read 1.0 CF) 4th gear pull on these:
And Shootout Mode (which mimics the DynoJet MAPerformance has):
Once again, I can't thank Ron the owner of RS Motors enough for the work he has put in on my car. He was busy as heck these past 2 weeks and somehow still squeezed me in and made it happen.
Next winter maybe i'll spring for an AMS or Magnus Intake manifold, bigger Throttle Body, and I've been eyeing up STM's 650 cams or the new ones JohnBradley @ ER is working on. But for now, this setup will do very well for me this summer

6466 outspooled the 6266. Even if it lost in spool only 100-200 rpms thats still a win. I guess I'll be looking ot upgrade to a 6466 next year.
Do they upgrade the 6265/62 turbos to 6466 or will it be all new ( I know they upgrade to a 6266).

I agree that its a win seeing as how it lost such little spool (actually outspooled the 6266 on mine) and has the potential to make such high hp

Wow. I love it! Any videos? Even more impressive that it's a stock intake manifold and tb.
What were the issues you were having with the 6266?
40 psi on the 6466, I'm reading that right?
So so impressive!!

Yeah we ran 40psi on the 6466, I wanted to see how far I could push this set up. I'll compile some as soon as the weather starts getting nicer. MN is hit or miss with the weather this time of year. I'm hoping to hit the track this Wednesday, but I can't drive, so expect some 12's at ~138 hahaha

This is still on our winter blend. Last I tested locally it was still in the e68(68% ethanol) with my zeitronics. I was so surprised with the spool being almost identical between the two turbos. I kept comparing them while tuning. 6466 actually out spooled the 6266 in the first few runs while the engine and piping were still fairly cold.
