"Un-tuned" Evo VIII

Visited my best friend(Vr4play350) in Ft Lauderdale Florida for 10 days. Yesterday, he took me to AWD Motorsports. Cool dudes there with a bunch of evos in the shop. Watched them tune an Evo with Buschur block and ets turbo kit. Put down a little over 600!
We then went over to DST Motorsports. My buddy is good friends with Shawn, the owner. He was tuning a twin turbo G37. By the time he was done, we only had time to do a couple pulls. Hta71, Buschur ported exhaust mani, O2 and TBE. Buschur TB, Grimspeed MBC set at 24 psi, eBay FMIC and Perrin intake. Stock injectors. He has to install his ID1000's, Buschur ported intake mani, GS2's and piping. Once that is installed a full test and tune on E85 to come. Both surprised on the outcome with no tuning. AFr's were around 12.5. Hope the links work.

you want to be rich on the base map not the other way around.

depending where that AFR signal came from though it may not be as lean as you think it is. if its from the tailpipe then its richer then it logs by quite a bit.

Tom how much is quite a bit? Aren't 12.5 afr's a bit to lean? The last question I have is if you were running a test pipe then the reading at the tailpipe would be more accurate to what the engines at right? The only reason I ask is because my tuner uses the tailpipe o2 sensor and its pretty spot on with my aem wideband.

Tailpipe to engine is usually about 1/2 point.
12.5 Still too lean for my personal taste though even if its at the tailpipe i prefer to see high 11s 12.0.

Especially on small turbos pushing a lot of air, that extra fuel really helps keep things cool.

i thought it was about a full point. i guess it depends on the age / brand of the sniffer and how much exhaust flow is actually restricted before it reaches the end of the exhaust system. i prefer to be low 11 on a base map at the leanest.

You're suggesting low 11 From an 02 reading in the downpipe.

NOT from a tailpipe sniffer correcto?
