A Supra just had a Super99 with T4 hot side fitted to it, will be interesting to see how that goes. One Supra has already done 8.7s with a T3 one

There is no way the 6870 is going to spool like the 6766 - the compressor will probably be pretty awesome, so not going to comment on that... but a 70mm turbine versus 66, I am not going to hold my breath on that being a similarly responsive beast. I'm guessing this PT6870 will be particularly well suited to the bigger motor guys, though it will be interesting to see how it compares with the Super94 and Super99s.

Also when comparing the PT6870 with the FP turbos, it might make the contexts a bit more interesting naming them all in "Precision nomenclature":

Precision PT6766
Super94=FP6868
Precision PT6870
Super99=FP7268

The betting man in me is the PT6870 is going to fit between the Super94 and Super99 in both response and power on EVOs but it will be very very interesting to see - awesome to see the competition heating up at the moment, everyone is a winner when things are progressing like this!

It's worth baring in mind that Devin doesn't run these bigger turbos on kill on the dyno - and that all the dyno plot is showing at 47psi is how hard the 6766 is working at that boost level, we have no idea how much more the Super99 would pick up if it is given more boost to play with as it's clearly still very happy. With both on kill the power difference will be bigger, and there appears to only be a few hundred rpm difference in lag if I am reading it right?

Agreed, 6466 is better balance for street/drag - but the Super99 is doing DAMN good for the power potential it is likely to have.

You are probably correct when you mentioned the 6870 being the in between turbo of the super94/99 but I disagree I think the 6870 could spool similar if not the same because if the gen 2 wheel that the 6766 does not use. Only time will tell

Yeah as I said the compressor will be a really good thing no doubt, but the 70mm turbine wheel is what I feel will guarantee that it won't match the 6766 for response

What's running out of steam after 8300? The head, cam, or turbo? Is a 6 bolt head that much better then the evo head above that RPM?

Nice test, great data from you guys.

My buddy in NYC purchased a Super 99 and just installed it..........are we talking about the same guy?

Last I spoke to him, he still has a bunch of stuff to install on his car before getting it on the dyno come Spring (namely his ProEFI).

How are the tracks out there? Do they prep nicely? My brother lives in Phoenix, and I've always wondered if it would be worth a trip.

norcalSRTrida - Yes, it a Tial V-band T3 exhaust housing

Joey doesn't drive it on the street much anymore. But I did run the M&H Drag radials on my car (Red Demon), and I loved them. I bought them from Buschur @ the IDRC event last spring. I used them in a standing 1/2 Mile event, and ended up going 213 MPH.

Running it though a 3" exhaust is the problem at this power level. We upgraded the 'Red Demon' and the 'Junk Box' to 3.5" exhausts, and on the Red Demon it was good for 30HP!!

UPDATE:

The Junk Box is heading in to the shop soon to get ready for the 2014 season. We plan on installing a Magnus Cast IM with dual rail option. Joeys car last year was running out of injector a kept us from realizing the full potential of the Super 99.

We will keep you guys updated.

The pump is fine and the fuel pressure holds great, but we are out of injector. To keep the car feed last year we cracked up the base fuel pressure, and mixed down E98 to E70 with racing fuel.

With the dual rail setup, we may just go back to E98, or try the WTF E85.

The track outside of Phoenix is awesome! I remember walking out of my shoes there.... That was for a NOPi though. The Tucson Track "SIR". Usually has decent prep.

Phoenix is great too and there are a lot of fast cars between the two cities that are about 1.5hrs apart. You guys should venture out for an IFO in October first round of beers on me
