Zach's 440whp 2.3L FP Black 92 octane
Zach is a Navy guy that has had the Evo for awhile and a dream. He wanted to have the fastest spooling and biggest powerband for road racing he could and still run 92 octane. We went to work and were able to produce a really good compromise for the goals.
Mods-
ER 2.3L
Wiseco 1400HD 9:1 stroker pistons
OE 100mm crankshaft
Eagle rods
ER Street Port cylinder head
Kiggly valvesprings
GSC S2 camshaft set
GSC valves
Forced Performance DBB Black
JDL O2 dump
Fuel Injector Clinic 900cc injectors
ETS 3.5" FMIC kit
Omnipower 4 bar
ER SD road race tune
3" TBE
Hallman MBC
I left run 7 on to show the difference 1 degree of timing can make to the overall shape of the powerband. While it didnt really seem that it needed the degree around 7200, everywhere else liked it.

The red you tuned in my boys 9 pulled 430.. On oregon pump. He has S2 , o2 dump , and a ets intercooler on all stock pipes.. But the motor is stock. Am I crazy? What numbers would you expect on a red with this motor?

Porting the FP Black will allow it to make more power up top, right? An unported FP Black will make torque sooner but then taper off up top, right? And E85 will allow the spool to happen sooner, right?
I am looking to see what turbo (Green, Red, Black) would give me the greatest powerband with 30+PSI on a 2.3L. I like to use pump gas numbers in my decision making so this thread is nice for that.
Full boost around 3,700RPM (and holding throughout) and starting to taper (torque wise) around the mid 6,500RPM range.

Porting is about backpressure control but some of it is also to keep the turbo from creeping out of control. Multiple directions that happen under the blanket of "porting" so one can do different things and call it a port job.
30psi on straight pumpgas on 93 I have seen 490-525 from both the Red and the Black. Every part of the combo was optimal to do that though, not what I would call easily repeatable.
