That a good point Don. Youre a 1/4 guy where i was road courseing & hard hits in first gear are just not needed

If we keep this hobby going any longer, you and i will likely be visiting TRE

Too late. I already bought a complete transfer case rebuild kit from Mitsubishi. Should arrive today.

Cool! I have a FP Black on the car so the boost takes a while to hit so I think I'm a bit easier on the hardware but that must be quite a kick!

You got to know Don. He's an Engineer & anticipates the blown condition

So some of his projects are a "just in case" type thing

He's a hard workin mechanical man!

I bought a whining TC for my roller (because I can't trust a seller's self claimed "good" TC, so I'll make it good myself). I'll build it and use with new short block engine. I have Arlington doing a standard valve job that will open the valve seats and bowls.

I have a built tranny that was built by Shep with evo 8 3rd & 4th gears and REM treated, then rebuilt by Gingineer when 1st gear went out. They installed roller input shaft bearing at same time with new 1st gear.

This roller will be amazing once it's done. Hopefully, I can sell it and recover all my costs. I don't need 2 evo 9s. Especially if seconds already costs $22k for all parts so far. I still need misc things like brackets and expect another $1k more. Gulp!

Haha Joe, no worries. As for knowledge, it's all from this site. I just do my best to think things through. It's nice to have a huge support group for days I get stumped on things. I always get good info from this site on my quests to figure things out. I'm sure researching on this site ahead of time cuts my work in half.

I haven't had a chance to work on it yet. I'm still working on my SUV. Dealer used too much loctite on front cam gear bolt and I couldn't find anywhere to hold cam still, so long story short, i used pry bar wedged inside the gear to keep it from turning. Ended up breaking the cam gear. New one coming Friday/Saturday. Slight setback. I got bolt out and it took plumber's big wrench on cam gear teeth to break bolt loose. The rear bolt had about 3 or 4 threads with loctite, but the front bolt had almost the entire thread. Dealer probably dropped the bottle on this bolt.
Anyhow, I'm not impressed with dealer work when I had timing belt done first time. Water pump had 3 or 4 loose bolts where I could have uncrewed by hand (possibly the source of my coolant leak since I had to refill my reservoir every month). They broke my lower timing belt cover and installed it with chunk missing (bought a new one for $50ish). They took a chunk of aluminum off my block where water pump seals on to (luckily, there's still 2/3 left, so it still seals completely). And they didn't install my air filter back correctly, so I drove around with leak where dirt could have been sucked in. Anyway, I'm done paying dealer premium prices ($1600+) for mediocre work.
