E85 with my setup?

Hello everyone, knew it wouldn't last. I am enjoying my new setup, and of course in the back of my head I hear "tune for e85." My location does not help considering I have e85 available close to me.

So my setup: 04 Evo 8 (126k odo), still 2.0L, FP red/mhi housing, evo 9 iWG, tatrix ebc solenoid, ETS IC and IC pipes, Buschur TB Exh, 4" buschur cone Intake, SD setup, omni 4bar MAP, JDC COP, FIC 950 inj, HKS 265/265 (i know, but i have had some of this setup since 2006) walbro 255 (unmodified). and Synapse BV

Without any other supporting mods(I know bigger injectors, and such), would tuning my setup for e85 be much better. I am currently at 410/380 on 93oct.

Definitely. There are a bunch dyno graphs of reds with E85 you can go poke through to find an analogous setup to yours. Upgrading your cams will also help a lot too.

Lol, I know. But Its like pandoras box, if I open her up to change cams, i will end up with a completely built motor. Kinda what happened when I switched out my TME turbo after turning 100k on that turbo. Thought I was just going to rebuild it, and it turned into an FP red and supporting mods

I wouldn't bother without fuel upgrades. Better cams would help it make more power on pump gas.

Hi, I just finished installing Kelfords 272 cams, Gt Pumps/FP Green 73HTA, SME Manifold, 3 Inch TBE, Invidia Dump Pipe, FIC 1150 Injectors, Walbro 255, JDM Motorsport CopKit, stock throttle body, stock intercooler Plazmaman Hot & Cold side intercooler piping, stock 6 speed box, stock clutch (plus other supporting mods)!
I got 540 torque @26 - 28Psi,
293kws / 392HP! @da wheels on a mainline dyno I think!
Dynotuning was done by Vince Rigoli @TeamKaramRacing in Wetherill Park, Sydney Australia!
I was tossing up for about a year, whether to go drop ins with stock valvetrain or going the full aftermarket top end rebuild with springs/retainers/lifters! I am glad I chose the latter option as I have a Dual Map Tune for 98/E85 & I am so happy with my power! I am glad I did all the mods before the dual map tune as I would have had to spend more money later because of not being content with drop in cams or just a single map tune for pump 98!
Next mods will be a 2.2 or 2.3 litre stroker & a Garrett GTX 3584RS!

You torque limited to ~400 lb/ft which is the number you're at on 93 Octane as is. I see your situation as follows:

> Your mid-range power and torque is restricted by the stock rods
> E85 can give you more top end power with increased ignition timing and/or boost BUT your cams restrict high rpm breathing

Based on that I'd say keep it as is, or change to GSC S2 cams + springs/retainers and take advantage of better high rpm breathing to keep Torque in check but increase power in the 5500 - 7800 rpm range. The S2's will increase your 93 numbers also...

Thanks for the responses. I will enjoy where she sits right now. I know I will be doing a clutch replacement before next summer. I will start ordering parts to do the top end build. You guys have been real helpful. Thanks
