Evo IX MR: HTA71/S1/air filter/2.75" O2/LICP

Finally finished tuning the car. This is the final pump gas vs e85 (79.4%) graph. We may run a bit more boost out the top, just to see what it will do, but it will end up coming back to this. Not bad for a turbo that only spools 200RPM slower than stock.
For reference, I looked up the old dyno sheet and the stock turbo was right around 330whp no 91 oct and 380whp on e85.
This is on a FlexFuel map, so no more having to run out all the fuel before swapping. That's the best part, IMO. Well, that and I am back to running my favorite turbo (on an Evo).

OEM shortblock
OEM ecu
Tune: FlexFuel by Jay @ BoostedTuning.com
OEM MAF
GSC S1
LICP
FP HTA71 w/FAP
FP silicone air inlet
Titek 2.75" O2 housing
Unknown brand 3" DP/TP/exhaust with oval Magnaflow muffler.
Blitz SE FMIC
Blox open air filter
OEM snorkel and airbox cover.

Pretty much less power than any other car dynoed with same mods (Dunno why... my car always makes less power than... well, the world )

Pics edited because I was using the wrong version of VD. Sorry, Jay.

If you increase the weight setting, your graph should give you more power thtoughout.

My tuner was adamant about running an open intake for 15 WHP gain vs the stock box

Edit: Sorry, had to re-read it again. Blox open element in the stock box

I think your torque peak is pretty conservative (by design I'm sure). I bet if you cranked it up to ~400ft-lbs you would see pk HP numbers more inline with what usually gets posted (not advice). More importantly how does it drive/feel?

I think you still beat mine 371 WHP on a Mustang dyno. Stock O2 housing, but have GSC S2 cams.

Thanks for posting this Kaj.

We were outta injector, hence why your not making more power. Not because of your car, lol.

Yeah. Kaj autoXs and road races a lot, so I kept the torque down, so his engine can live a long, happy life.

Instant horsepower!

I have the "snorkel" and attached the top part of the airbox to force the air down onto the open filter. Not sure it helps, but it seemed to make sense to direct the air onto it

Jay could probably tune to the teeth, but I track the car and would like a decent amount of buffering. As for the car, I love, LOVED this turbo on my car last time. This time, I have the larger turbine housing, a better air filter, better cams, and some other parts. The numbers are better and the car pulls better. On my way home, the roads were empty so I got to play. The car points and shoots like crazy. From a stop, the sucker just puts me in my seat and I stay there. It's awesome. My favorite turbo.

I was considering S2s... but I'm really happy with how the car drives now... plus I'm lazy.

Truth. The car sees hard miles. It's in the garage.. race, race, race, put away wet. Repeat. Not even a rinse.

Thanks for posting this! You have almost the identical setup I am looking to do. I will be going with different cams though. What size injectors are you currently running?

Your updated dyno graph shows 26psi spike on 91 oct. Is that right? And you're spiking to 28psi on E85? 91 spike is scary.

It's been a while since I paid much attention to a tune (the one thing I get to leave to someone else lol), but I think I usually do 25psi or so on pump gas. 1psi for a brief time, at that RPM, etc is okay with me. I trust Jay.

By the way, on a IX, spool with 71HTA will depend more on tuner than cams.

Stock cams

S2 cams

S2 with tuner tweaks

Also, it looks like your injectors are maxed out over 6,500 RPM. Get S2 cams!
