Sound like you'll let yours sit like me. I've had these 2 turbos for over 6 months already.

I was gonna wait to get to it til after I got a lift in my new garage, but someone stole $600 from me during my move, which was like 1/3 of the cost of a new lift, hence my delay

MHI Red = good choice.
if I ever build an engine, that's the turbo I'd go with!

Gotcha. Well, peak whp will be nice and response still okay. If my car were road course only, I'd probably still prefer an MHI red. I'd get the whp/tq I'd want, with less back pressure. Spool wouldn't matter so much and change of response at that RPM is a reasonable trade off. Nice pick up, dude!

The "new" re-released FP54 still looks very appealing to me as a potential best-of-both-worlds turbo, however its more than double the price of the HTA71. I'm going to be building my car along the same lines as yours - AutoX duty, street driving, stock block with S2 and E85. The instant response of the stock Evo 9 turbo is quite addictive and my car doesn't even have a tune or E85 yet.

The prospect of 500whp and full Torque at 4000rpm on stock block with the FP54 is really inviting but I also want to keep the stock 6 spd alive and maintain reliability.

Up until now, I've run a 6spd so had to limit wtq to 350. I think that's why my Green felt "lazy". Anyway, I'm also addicted to the response of small turbos so swapped out my stock turbo to another 71. Now that I can up the wtq a bit, I expect it to be even more fun. Fun enough to forgo 500whp, anyway. I'm weird. I know. 😂
I really need to swap my S1s for S2s, though.
