Evo 8: MHI HTZ Red, S1 Cams, E85

Finally have some results to post up here. Went down to SJ today and got tuned by Gary Baines on E85. Car is pulling like a freight train right now!

Stock Block 84k miles
GSC S1 Cams(stock springs/retainers)
MHI FP Red w/84mm cover
Fp Intake
Walbro 450 w/ hobbs switch rewire
FIC 1200cc High-Z
Grimmspeed EBCS
VRSF 3.5" Intercooler
ETS LICP
Muse UICP
BPR8EIX gapped at .020
Map SS o2 housing
Turbosmart 18psi WGA
TBE
Omni 4 bar

Gary killed it on the tune, car made more power than expected on a mustang dyno. This dyno reads about 5-7% lower than a dynojet. Now it's time to see how long till my stock clutch starts slipping.

Very nice! Do you have boost and afr chart too? Your power comes on early for non mivec!

Thanks man! I'm gonna post a VD graph with the boost and AFR when I get the chance. I know its running 29psi up top and i think high 11 AFR.

I agree: torque comes on really early. Not bad at all.

isn't the tq a bit much for the stock block, esp on a mustang dyno?

This is a fairly high reading mustang dyno. Definitely not a heartbreaker. Btw Don, did a pull AFR right around 12, with boost coming in slow, 25 psi @ 4500 topping out at 29 @ 7500

That's a perfect setup for my rebuild, I'm glad you went with the Red, I might run 1300cc injectors and push the revs to 8000 with forged internals. I have to pull the head too so I am thinking S2s and beehives with fitronic setup to mix e85 and 98 and keep the torque down to where you are to save my 6 speed

Nice! Sounds like a great combo. Definitely go with 1300 at minimum. If you rev to 8k maybe even go S3's, lol

Appreciate the post and the kind words Eric. The s1’s are helping that low midrange torque. This makes the car feel more alive on the streets forsure.

The turbosmart makes boost control a breeze compared to the Fp actuators and makes sure we don’t get spikes in the low end since.

Fun street car and LOTS of area under the curve where it counts.

There is absolutely no need for S3's on a stock engine. You're just shifting the power to the right. S2's are the biggest this setup really needs.
