Dan Buschur's 2003 EVO8, end of year video.

Jarrod's been very busy here at the shop the last few days putting together video's for some of the cars we built this year.

First up is my brother Dan's, 2003 EVO8. A little history on the car. This is the first EVO8 I bought in March of 2003 when they first came out. The car was brought back to the shop and dyno work/development was started immediately. The car dipped into the 12's on the stock ECU very quickly and then dropped into the mid-11's soon after that. Back then there was a problem killing the few EVO's that were actually making power. We tried a lot of things to get rid of this "misfiring" problem. The first EVO COP igntion was developed on this particular EVO. We had all AN fuel lines, Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator, a full full cell and a ton of other things added to the car at one time trying to find the problem. It came down to an issue with the AEM EMS that was in the software. This car ended up running 10.90's but was a complete PITA to get to that point with the problems that were being caused through the EMS. This was all before I bought my 2004 EVO RS, new. That will give you an idea of how early in the game this was. The 10.90 that this car did run then was extremely impressive at the time as it was still 100% complete other than the front bumper beam and the fuel cell we added trying to solve the misfire problem.

Well, as the story goes, I bought the RS, sold this car to my brother. As development continued and we learned the problems weren't related to anything other than software issues Dan started putting the car back to how it should have been.

He removed the fuel cell, put the factory fuel tank back in and all the factory fuel lines back on the car. This car has never had a seat removed from it so it is complete with all the sound deadener, all the factory dash, seats/interior and is very quiet inside as he runs the Magnaflow muffler option on. A/C and everything else is in the car. What is missing is the front and rear bumper beams and the EVAP canister in the rear, that's it.

A few years back, before the release of our double pumper fuel system, this car had run some low 10's but was out of injectors. Not wanting to go back to the fuel cell and not liking any of the other solutions the car was parked.

This brings us to the current car and here are the specs on the car:

BR, standard bore 2 liter
BR, Stage 3 cylinder head
BF272 cams
AEM EMS
BR coil on plug ignition
BR double pumper
Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator
PTE 1200 cc injectors
PTE 67-Trim turbo, .63 a/r turbine housing
BR header turbo kit
BR manual boost controller
BR lightweight battery kit
BR 3" turbo back with Magnaflow muffler
Bushwacker Stage 1 trans
Tilton twin clutch
BR 2.5" upper and lower i/c pipes
BR Race FMIC
BR ported intake
BR 65 mm throttle body
Axle shop Stage 5 axles
BR 4" intake and K&N filter

The car generated 642.9 whp and 469.2 ft lbs of torque on our Mustang AWD 500SE dyno.

At the end of this year Dan got motivated and wanted to take the car to the track. We all headed out to Dragway 42.

The car performed well to say the least. 9.69 at 150.87 mph. This is no lightweight EVO and it's quiet inside the car on top of that. Granted, watching the video it sounds loud from behind on the two step but the car inside is very quiet. With all the factory sound deadening and Magnaflow it's rediculous a car this fast is this quiet inside.

Here's the videos. Enjoy.

I'm telling you, Dan's car is so clean and quiet that when I dropped my car off up there a year ago, he literally parked next to us before we knew he was there! You could only hear the car driving over the rocks. A "silent assassin" for real.
