Tuned by R/TErnie Race Engineering  (me)

Tuning Notes:
AFR was logged between 11:0-11.8:1
MIVEC was left alone from previous settings.
This was done in three pulls from what I went to the track with. I cleaned up the AFR's a bit and pulled some timing. I did not want to spend a lot of time at the dyno today because I'm going to be installing my Magnus v5...and I want to spend around 3-4 hours tuning the setup. Therefor there is no need to spend lots of time on this setup since it's going to change literally tomorrow. This dyno session came about from my terrible ET/MPH from the track (11.8@120) I suggested that it was the twin slipping, while other people pointed at my driving or the tune. Since I can't quantitatively prove my driving ability... I figured I'd show that I'm DEFINITELY making the power.

The car pulls well... especially in the cold night air of Washington State. I look forward to some low 11 second ET's with a new Exedy Triple. {thumbup}

Gotta love that cold Washington air :) now if we had 93 Octane ;)

After looking over the logs very carefully... my target boost was 32.3 psi. Had I set the target @ 40+.... I wouldn't have been pulling WGDC... and my torque would've been RETARDED. I still have a lot of tuning to do on the race gas setup haha.

No problem Ernie, Sorry if I was half asleep, I've been up and running out here since 4:30 this morning and had to get to sleep early, but with the Fuel Cars making passes last night it was hard to do ;). Good Luck at the track, and I'm sure you will get it sorted out. Indy

What WGA and bosot control are you using? That is a funky curve. Are you saying that curve is because you where hitting error correction?

R/TErnie Sep 5, 2009 11:29 AM

Yes,
The funky boost curve was from the error correction. The Boost Adder got the best of me. Obviously the boost controller isn't controlling boost, rather limiting...but then again I haven't spent any time tuning it.

GST... this was literally 7 pulls from my pump gas map to get this tune. I realize that's not the right way to do things, but like I said before... I'll be back with the Magnus hopefully next week for a long tuning session. My WGA and EBC setup are listed above.

A single 3rd gear pull will show the power it's making, but did you check the logs and tune when going through the gears? You could possibly be hitting different load cells.

Damn! Are you going with the WGA that came with the Red or the 25psi? I have a similar setup with the Magnus already installed and I hit a 27psi plateau. This is the first time I switched to Speed Density with VTA and I'm wondering if there is something in there that is keeping me back.

The same setup without the Red and Magnus was running 28.5 - 29psi on pump + meth (still running meth). Congrats, and good luck with the next session and the 1/4 mile time. Are you still going to get the triple?

Here is the video if the 476 pull right before the 480... and a video of the stock coupler balloning under 34 psi... and I guess I will add some random pics...

Thanks for the pics Fred :)

Bambooi,
It was from my other thread in Drag Racing where people said I wasn't making anywhere close to 460whp. I made 2 pump gas pulls to get the 92 out and then I made three C16 pulls off of my 114-L Trick map. The 3rd pull was to back up the 2nd pull. If you look in the drag racing forum you'll see my thread "I can't break an 11.80 with my red" I have some plots in there that will answer most of your questions.

yahu,
I got the FP HP actuator when I bought the Red. I've logged over 36psi before on the street... I know I can run more boost than this on it.

This is just the thread i needed..I was just asking about a similar setup today..Red,here i come.{thumbup}justin

Just curious, why do people bother tuning the car on a random mix of race gas and pump gas? It's not as if this can be reproduced accurately enough to keep that tune meaningful for any tank of gas other than that one... meaning once it runs out and you refill it, you'll never get the mix exactly right again so the tune will be off.

I suppose just to see what power it makes or because they are afraid of low numbers on pump gas? It's one thing to do tuning like this at the track, but at the dyno seems like a waste unless you're a shop owner killing time or just love dynoing your car.

If you bothered to read the thread... you wouldn't have posted.

I see why you made so much power...there is NOS in that car :)
