Dan Buschur's EVO8 back for some shootout action.

My brother Dan owns Buschur Racing's first EVO we bought back in March of 2003. This was our original test vehicle and I sold it to him when I bought my 2004 RS.

The car has been through hell as far as building parts. Fuel cell in it, fuel cell out of it. Multiple engine managements, engines etc. A lot of testing on the car.

Luckily it has remained a beautiful car in mint condition and we were smart enough not to cut big holes in it when we built a fuel cell for it at one time.

The car now is back to a basically stock appearance other than the 5 Ziegen FN01RC wheels. The car is full weight minus the bumper beams. Stock engine mounts, stock rear end mount, stock center member, stock interior, ALL factory sound deadener, air conditioning etc. The car had previously run a best of 9.67 at 150 mph with the T67 Ptrim turbo on it. I never liked how laggy it was and tried to talk Dan into the "next-new-best thing". Last year he let the car sit the entire year. This year he has got the itch to race at the shootout and did some updates.

He installed two fresh fuel pumps (he's running our double pumper and the original pumps got weak), he put a stock fuel pressure regulator back on it (removing the old SX regulator from when there was a fuel cell in the car) and he installed the FP HTA86 I run on my RS, we also are now using VP Q16.

The car is now more responsive than it's been in years, runs as smooth as glass and is putting down great power. Keep in mind the times it ran in the past were all just like it sits. Previously I had the car tuned on VP Import, I had it running at 46.3 psi of boost and the best it put down for power was 674 whp and 510 ft lbs.

The car is now running 42.6 psi of boost peak, is tuned on Q16 and it just put down 699 whp and 557 ft lbs of torque.

Here is the dyno graph:

This is the combination on the car:

BR Stage 3, 2 liter
BR Stage 3 head
BF272 cams
BR double pumper
BR Race FMIC
BR upper and lower i/c pipes
Tial 44 mm wastegate
Tial BOV
BR COP ignition
BR ligthweight battery kit
BR fuel rail
1200 cc injectors
BR header turbo kit with FP HTA86 turbo
BR 3" turbo back WITH TWO MAGNAFLOW MUFFLERS
BR ported stock intake
BR 65 mm throttle body
Bushwacker transmission
Tilton clutch

I see some 9.40's at 150+mph coming from this full weight EVO.

What are you gonna rev out to?

David Buschur Aug 7, 2010 12:13 AM

Shift points will be 8500, to finish the 1/4 mile the car will need to run to around 9500'ish.
