STM's 4g63girl Evo build.
As many of you know, We have been working on a project over the last couple of weeks for Shawna's 140k+ mile Evo. The car with the stock motor made excellent power and ran very well. As good as we are at pushing the limits of the stock motor, Its was a no brainer to swap out the high mileage short block for something a little newer.
This brings me back to the DSM shootout when Dave said to me "Come here I have something I have to show you" (No homo):lol:. Well I followed him into his engine building room and he showed me some custom pistons he had made for him. These new pistons were made to allow a long rod while still retaining the Stock block. Knowing the problems that the 2.4 blocks have at high HP levels keeping head gaskets on them, I thought this was a great idea. Not only that, But the new pistons are a lot lighter! Anyhow, Long story short I had Dave build me one for Shawna's car. Here is a stock short block to BR 2.0LR comparison. http://www.streettunedmotorsports.co..._motor_35r.jpg Some quick notes to consider. -Turbo is a normal garrett 3582r -Stock motor was on 27 psi till the end of the pull while with the new block hits 38 falling off to 32 by 8k. -New Trans has 411 final drive -still has the STOCK intake manifold. We will be testing a BR ported one in the next few days. -While it was apart we added a ported BR Throttle body to the car as well. -BR double pumper -Everything else including the stock head are still the same. Here is a quick mod list. STM standard facing 35r kit STM upper and lower IC pipes kits with Tial BOV STM FPR kit BR 2.0 LR BR double pumper BR Street core BR ported Throttle body Kelford 272's FIC 2150cc injectors Exedy triple Basically, It works. Thanks for posting this up Emery. Thanks for the confidence in the engine and trying it out before I even had a chance to! From what I am seeing I can't wait to get one in a car here. I've got a complete long block built ready to drop in...........keep putting it through it's paces and give me some feedback on how it feels on the street.

What's the point of a 2.0LR
Any weight you lose in the piston is found in the rod and then some probably. A standard 2.0 can rev to well over what's realistic? Just curious |

Clarification would be nice sometimes... granted he is new explaining it to him instead of replying with some snub ass comment doesn't help.

Even if the overall weight stays the same, You will benefit from less friction loss.{thumbup} It will also help the motor to rev even further without any added issues. Seems like a win/win to me.

lol wow... The longer rods allow for slower piston velocities in the cylinder therefore allowing for higher rpm potential. Some other small benefits are a slight tq increase due to longer dwell time as well as more longevity due to less piston side-load.
