Josh has been bringing his car up to us for awhile. It was time to build a 2.0 for the car so we put together a standard 2.0 with Wiseco/Manley I beams, stock head, GSC S2s, 3" TBE (unknown), and an old ETS 61mm turbo kit. The turbo has been around the block more than the village bicycle having been on no less than 3 other cars. It is a 3" inlet 61mm with a 0.63 A/r 5 bolt housing. Not what you would expect to be a real powerhouse. The last car it was on made 450whp at 26psi which was a little different combo than what we have now but I knew what to expect.

I spent some time getting the SD dialed this morning for idle and cruise and then headed to the dyno to see what it was going to make. Maybe I had some positive waves going because the results blew me away for 92 octane.

The real power levels are a little lower out the top (I left the cursor on the real peak) as it smashed the rev limiter on me and caused a brief spike. Still 532whp on 92 octane on an old tech 6152 is pretty rowdy. Cant wait to see what this has in it on E85.

What effect do you think would a long rod setup have as opposed to standard rod 2.0? lastly, how much gain do you attribute for going SD over MAF on this setup? thanks :beer:

I dyno'd one of our STD rod 2.4s against a long rod and saw ZERO difference in power. The main advantage on those is a decrease in vibration. In the context of the 2.0L where I dont feel they are too vibey without a balance shaft it would improve that aspect but I still feel there would be no power difference.

We dyno'd a MAF car, converted it to SD and ran it in the same conditions at 26psi a few years ago and published the results. Basically it had made 482-485 on the MAF and 3" intake, switched to nothing and made 495, then did a normal 4" SD intake and made 510whp at 26psi. Dave had seen similar results around the same time as well when we were testing. I think the thread was called SD vs MAF or something like that.

What a dirty little turbo! lol estimate on how many miles are on that thing from being on diffrent type of cars? Thing must be a champ for handling all those diffrent driving styles! Awesome numbers also!

Honestly it was on several Hondas, it was on TJ's Evo until recently, and now Josh's. I could be wrong but I think it might have even been on the sand truck at one point (well part of a twin set). All in all, ALOT of miles between at least 3 cars maybe more.

Nice #'s. I can vouch for that turbo, its a champ. I converted mine to a 4" ported shroud garrett housing and a 4 bolt .63 AR hotside journal bearing chra. Mine was purchased back in 2004, I blew it up when I killed my 2.0 motor due to rod bearing failure, only thing salvageable was the housings. I had the bearing replaced again as a precaution last year for a $110 from precision (which is why I went journal bearing in the first place, cheap rebuilds) I made 550ish awhp on a standard rod 2.4 with 26psi and 13 degrees timing on C16. Didnt get too aggressive with mine on the timing because im running eagles, a cometic head gasket and standard arp head studs. My real limiting factor on the turbo was the .63 hotside, due to the 2.4 bottom end, it chokes it up good enough to cause a real heat problem. Anything over 26psi and I was blowing hot air. Even at 26psi we needed to wait about 15 minutes between pulls to let it cool down.

That's awesome. I bet it does 600whp on E85, but that hotside might make it a fight, well maybe its a 2.0
