8/23/2012 --

Instead of playing with fire and getting burned, we decided to stop while we were ahead. Scott is now building his engine!

For part #2 go here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/al...-part-2-a.html

8/17/2012 --

Scott dynoed his car on the BR Mustang Dyno and came up with 631/485. not a bad start. Below is a short video & Graph.

This is the best run and only clean pass it made at the shootout.
We had technical difficulties with a fuel pump dying and an ignition taking a crap.

Boost was turned way down on this pass, and car was richened out a lot to compensate
from the half dead primary walbro fuel pump. Still not bad for limp mode.

update 6/23/2012 - decided to go out to a special event to see if he could click 9's .. he went quicker but not 9's quite yet.

update 6/13/2012 - another track visit with more power. we added an AMS f1i intake manifold and a 70mm full blown throttle body. As you can see the track conditioning was worse then before, which resulted in a subpar 60ft, which halted the car from breaking into the single digits. Below is the power graph of the vehicle and the time slip, along with a video of the runs.

** we had the boost around 37psi at the drag strip **

update 5/14/2012 - Scott went back to the track again for more disappointment.. jk.. well kind of. No 9 second pass due to the transmission not wanting to go into 2nd gear anymore.. transmission is done.. 2nd gear is gone. He still managed to run 10.15 @ 140 forcing it into 2nd gear grinding. With a good transmission as the car sits, it has the ability to run 9's all day.. problem is.. it will not come close to the 9.7 we need to set a new record.. so another part is going on the car soon.. AMS f1i intake manifold.. we think that will bump the power a good 40whp or possibly 60 uptop, which should be enough to take the record with the vehicles current weight.

keep in mind the current car that set the record was somewhere inbetween 2600-2700lb and they were not making no where near the power we are making right now on the stock block. We are taking the more dangerous approach for sure.. Scott's car is 2900lb~ race weight. since we don't have the weight reduction other cars have we have to make up for it with power.. hopefully everything remains together so we can take the 9.7 record.

update 4/18/2012 - went back to track and knocked off 10.2's @ 139.. we have come to the realization that the goal of a 9 second pass and potentially a record breaking 9.7 flat is not realistic as the car currently sits.. we are switching to a 6266 and will tune the vehicle for approx 700whp and will visit back and get the 9.. he is also switching out the suspension back for stock due to complication issues with to stiff of suspension on the megans. The car will remain on maf and stock ecu & ecu boost. (possibly maybe SD).. is this a record for the stock block and stock ecu? who knows.. i know it will be the first 9 second remote tuned car though on stock block.

These results are achieved with approx 610-620WHP on virtual dyno via dynojet mode. (not with hoosier/rx7 combo on car during power reading)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Starting a new thread because the other one i cant even edit the first post anymore. We had this car on a mustang dyno did 21 pulls or so a few days ago, found what timing we wanted at higher RPM and made more power. Car didn't respond like we thought it would on the dyno with more boost at higher rpm, so it took longer then expected.

We put the car on the street, did a run, tune was changed quite a bit.. after pulling lots of timing out downlow and keeping the timing that we found on the dyno uptop the car pulls like a freight train.

The day we dynoed, it was 52F with 95% humidity (raining), (dyno room 65F). the street test pull was 25F and low humidity, so that is most likely why it changed so much.

Everyone already knows about this car i think but starting a new thread so i can update the top when it does go 9's on stock block. (hopefully)

Its ran a best of 138mph trap to date and 10.38 @ 137.68 mph.

Mod list is:

Stock Block
T3 Holset HX40 @ 37psi taper to 34.
Full race tubular manifold (replica)
Kelford 272's /w factory valve springs
ARP headstuds
PTE 1200cc's
Buschur double pumper
Buschur Race fmic
Buschur 65mm TB
CBRD half size radiator
4" ams intake pipe
Buschur SD muffler on custom 3" vband exhaust
Curt brown ported intake manifold
Tial 50MM bov
Tial 44MM WG
Exedy Twin HD
Factory drivetrain
Torque Solution mounts and bushings all around
AMS rear mustache bar eliminator
Spoolin up COP
e85, maf, stock ecu.

Things added were:
grimmspeed 3 port
omnipower 4bar
FIC 2150cc injectors
megan street coilovers
more weight reduction
heavier WGA spring
Removal of the screen on MAF

Car is seeing 456 load on the maf.. 36.87psi spike taper to 34ish psi uptop.

Cool stuff Tom and Scott..

Hope to see similar results with my hx35 setup. I'm following in Scott's footsteps as far as my build goes this spring..

Wonder how long his drivetrain is going to hold on for.

Xolition Jan 18, 2012 08:13 PM

Very nice, any more info on the turbo as I've never heard of it?

This I like. Dyno numbers and a run to match the results. Good job.

Thanks everyone. Tom did an excellent job tuning this car.

April 14th is opening day at the drag strip. Hopefully get the 9 second pass then!
