Daniel's 820whp SLR2.2 6466TS monster
Daniel has been around English Racing as long as English Racing has been around...or really really close. After the DSM days he stepped it up and started the path of Evolutions until he ended up back to an Evo 8.
It had gone through a few different incarnations on the stock 2.0L lastly on a BBK and E85. As happens in life the stars aligned and a sleeper street dominator was poised to happen. After seeing results from another SLR2.2 build that we did, Daniel decided it was the same combo he wanted. With recent advancements in the AEM Series 2, it made more sense to switch to the AEM for the flex fuel capability and other needed features on a planned 800+whp build. Foundation- Evo 8 EnglishRacing SLR 2.2 (153mm/94mm) EnglishRacing race port cylinder head GSC S3 camshafts GSC 5041 Valvespring set Extreme Turbo Systems 6466 Twin scroll kit with 1.15 housing Fuel Injector Clinic 2150cc injectors Magnus V5 Intake manifold SparkTech COP sequential ignition Boomba 75mm throttle body Squash Performance Dual 400lph fuel system Sound Performance 3" test-pipe dump Since this is primarily an E85 car and Flex fuel to boot, there wasnt much need for a killer pumpgas tune. That doesnt mean we didnt want it to be fun though and at only 19psi it should still make it pretty entertaining- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...psc2c13bba.jpg It came time to push the tune on E85 so after a bit on the dyno making sure the blending table was set where he wanted it, Luke put the screw to it- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...ps70b45d00.jpg We did our normal dyno video for the car (which starts at 10:51) but in addition Luke spent some time explaining the benefits of true flex fuel technology as it is now done in the AEM series 2 and a few other standalones on the market. I am sure Daniel will be terrorizing the streets of his home town in a car that externally doesnt look too far off from stock. Aaron |
Wow, Awesome, another one!
You guys are doing work over there, keep it up! |
Almost 500whp @ 19 psi...lol!!! Nice job guys!

Outstanding job. I'm very impressed!!!

JB, can you tell me the pros and cons of using S3's vs. R2's in this particular build? Would the R2's develop more torque down low and you veered toward the S3's to shift the torque to the right to save the drivetrain?
|
R2s are all about peak power as you rightly guessed. They focus sub 9000 and normally will make peak power high 7s in most bigger applications if there is enough turbo. Since this is a higher revving motor than the LR2.4s we do and the turbo has proven itself in other applications to make peak power pretty high we went with the S3s for the power up top. Drivetrain wasnt a consideration really.
BJ we have done more at 19psi on some builds, almost all of them are large motors though. |
Great work like always ER!
I really enjoyed the video. Nice to see AEM making some changes to keep up with other ecu options. |
JB, what do recommend max rpm of the SLR engine? Whether you use stock bore or larger the SLR still ends up a 2.2L. {thumbup} Sounds like you have found the best of both worlds. Any chance of getting the factory computer to work with GM flex fuel sensor or equivalent for auto sensing grade of fuel?
|
Awesome setup. Ive been looking at this combo on your website (94mm and 153mm). Have you hadany problems with the wristpin being in the oil control ring? Is it better to go with 153mm rids vs standard length rods and different pistons? That combo you have on your website looks very tempting!

Fantastic results Aaron. Looking forward to mine.

800 wheel is the new standard @ ER I guess :) My car is slow now :) Good job guys, I bet Dan is having fun with it.

I wouldnt say its a standard, just the result of a dedicated goal :)
