Evo 9 GSR Stock Block & turbo Kelford 272 91oct meth & no meth

Sharing this for Dave. This cars from Canada, so it was decent weather. Around 65F. The last pull was 57F.

Dave asked me what I would do given his circumstances. He doesn't have access to much other then 91 octane. So I advised him to get Meth injection. He went with the Aquamist HFS-3.

His setup is using two 520cc jets, totalling 1040cc of meth being injected into the engine. Thats a lot of methanol! It is a 50/50 water/meth mixture.

With a larger turbo, the meth would probably yield over 100whp+ gains vs the straight 91oct.

Torque was kept around 370wtq to preserve the safety of the engine since It was up to me to do what I thought was best for the car.

Mods are:

Stock Turbo & Block
ETS SD intake with K&N filter
JDL Full Tubular Exhaust Manifold
EPM o2 Dump Housing v2
Buschur 3" Downpipe
Buschur 3" High Flow Cat
Buschur 3'' cat-back with X-force Varex muffler
ETS 3.5" Intercooler
ETS Intake Pipe with Perrin Air Filter
ETS Upper Intercooler Pipe
Nisei Lower Intercooler Pipe

ARP L19 Headstuds
GrimmSpeed 3-Port EBCS
FIC BlueMAX 1250cc Injectors

Graph showing 91oct by itself and 91oct + meth.

making good power, meth used to scare me but I see alot of people are running very well on meth

I had a customers meth kit stick open and hydrolocked his engine. a lot of things can go wrong with meth kits. Aquamist seems to be a better safer kit though.

Since there's nothing else available where this guy is from, this is what he went with.

I ran meth in my 1g talon for over a year along time ago and never had a issue. It was also a really cheap kit. I have nothing bad to say about it personally. I went through an 8 gal cell in 2 weeks.

Dave went to the track over the weekend and ran a best ET of 11.61 and a best mph of 119.3

Not to shabby for 412WHP.

Yeah I am happy with the results . Car is a beast on the meth map .with that amount of boost.

Everything now works like a charm also for my meth setup . I am using the ACD0F setup to switch between my 2 maps , and it is also used as my failsafe .

So when my Aquamist gauge is On , I am on my meth map , and when i turned it Off , it switch automatically on my 91 octane with lower boost map . If anything goes wrong ( pressure drop , clogged nozzel , low meth level etc . ) it switch on the safe map also . It's a very nice setup .

With more practice , I could definitivly run 11.5 and even maybe a 11.4x . Oh and my best trap was 120.35mph on an other run :P

tscompusa Jun 17, 2014 03:12 AM

Very nice! almost a 121 trap, which is basically what 420WHP will do in full weight.

How many passes in total did you do? I think you can definitely get a 11.4 with a really good 60ft.

Maybe the 2step needs lowered just a bit more to minimize wheel spin.

blacktab420 Jun 17, 2014 07:39 PM

I did only 4 passes .

Not sure if I want a better 60ft like something under 1.7 sec . I Don't want to break anything on the drivetrain . I left the 2 step at 5500 for all the passes .

I could probably get a better time if i find the sweet spot to shift every gears . i did not had enough time to find it .

Maybe i will go to a track 3 hours away from me later this year to beat this .

For 4 passes thats great improvement. If you spend more time you will keep going a little quicker for sure.

If you need any help/advice/assistance with getting your launch better feel free to email me. its all about the RPM where you set it at.

You want something that has the least amount of tire spin, but without bogging the launch.

The 1-2 shift is critical also, and as you said shift points are critical also with the stock turbo since it falls off around 6500ish RPM typically.

looks like a blast to drive!
