Daniel's car has been quiet for the last year or so as he was deployed. After getting back stateside some big changes were implemented, a 6870 and dogbox, to prepare for the 2015 1/2 mile roll race calendar.

The mod list package for the car can be found here -

This one also looks fun like the other thread also.

That is some damn good spool.

Excellent work! (as expected from English Racing)

chamelieon Jan 7, 2015 12:49 PM

awesome, cant wait to see this on kill!

hutch959 Jan 7, 2015 05:43 PM

Nastyyyy!

JohnBradley Jan 7, 2015 05:50 PM

Timing and boost are still low. The 6870 TS is no joke. I cant think of too many other turbos that do 800whp+ at 34psi

MrLith Jan 7, 2015 05:51 PM

Ohh this should be interesting! is there any way of overlaying the old 3794 setup with the 6870?

JohnBradley Jan 7, 2015 07:09 PM

I can get it done tomorrow for sure :)

I'm a big fan of your work. Always a class act, and appreciate the info you bring to these forums.

I gotta say, as it sits, I'm not really 'blown away' with the 6870. Pretty fair comparison with the same car, motor, head/cam configuration, and tuner at basically same peak boost and boost at peak hp.

peak hp
6870: 807hp @ 7700 @ 34.75psi. Peak boost was 39.4. 50 degrees.
3794: 821hp @ 7800 @ 34.75psi. Peak boost was 40.4.

peak tq
6870: 574tq @ 6700.
3794: 595tq @ 6800.

400hp:
6870: 4800
3794: 5100

In PTE terms, the 3794 is a 6766. and with a gen2 aero blade technology on the 68mm, and an all new designed 70mm turbine, I guess I maybe expected a more dominant performance from the new breed?

I know you said its soft timing, so I guess I should take it into consideration.

I only speak on it because I'm interested in the turbo from all the hype behind it before its release for the past year, but it's coming out party hasn't been anything spectacular and not really sure if switching from my 67mm as it stands would be worth it.

I'm not doubting it can make more power, and continue to make more power than a 3794 or another 67mm, but it seems like it'll be for those that are willing to run 43-50psi, where the 67mm will begin to fall out of its efficiency... That seem like a fair assessment?

Not quite sure what you are expecting? Like you, I do hope that the 6870 can match the 3794 psi for psi (at least!) when timing is dialled in - but otherwise I am well impressed, the current power delivery is what you'd expect from a smaller turbo in the fact it appears to come in earlier and easier than the 3794.

The 3794 and 6766 are still damn fine things, and were mind blowing when they came out not THAT long ago in the scheme of things - it was the best you could do, so imho a "success" would be something that was capable of making more power with no loss in spool.... but this appears to deliver it's power BETTER than the 3794, yet I am very confident it will shoot out of the 3794s reach up high as well. That is a huge accomplishment, in my humble opinion.

Glad to see the OG 2.2 is still kicking but. Seems everyone is stepping up the game for 2015.

Was this pull done in 4th?

It's not like the turbine wheel on the 3794 is from anything of recent years, iirc?
We already have seen how a gen2 compressor wheel on the PTE is worth 30-40hp over the same exact sized gen1 wheel. Then add in im assuming the new technology and r&d of the 70mm, and its not making a good bit more power at a respectable 40psi?

Again, reread what I posted, in particular the last few sentences.

I'm not hating either. I love any/all work from ER. I was just asking some questions from those of us that may have questions of whether there's any real value in switching from a different 67mm to the 6870, if it will be ran in the 36-low 40psi range.

AngryEvo8 Jan 8, 2015 05:54 AM

Glad to see the power holding uptop on a 4cyl! Anxious to see what you guys make on full tilt.

Maddball Jan 8, 2015 07:57 AM

JB, what's the timing up top with 34PSI if you don't mind me asking? This will be interesting to see the overlay of the 6870 and 3794. The new vs the old.

Importguy85 Jan 8, 2015 11:26 AM

Extremely impressive!
