Stepping my IX up for 91/E85, looking for final preparation suggestions

Udate with thread summary:
Post 1: My baseline chart. Mod is Vishnu V400 (3" TBE with HFC, WGA bleeder to increase boost to 26 psi on 91 Octane gas), tuned by Shiv at TT. Added Injen hard pipe kit (LICP, UICP, turbo inlet pipe, and dry cone filter with MAF adaptor) afterwards. This is dyno run with leaking throttle body and you can see the dips when leak starts and where it gets worse.

Post 25: tuned for addition of: HTA71/RC1200cc (which are actually 1090cc@43.5 psi), AEM 320 LPH fuel pump, MAPerformance O2 housing with ceramic coating, self match ported exhaust manifold (honed all runners and curved collectors), AMS 3.5" FMIC, and stock turbo hotside, replaced throttle body seals with Works replacements.

Post 134: tuned for addition of GSC S2 cams with 5041 springs & titanium retainers. Also added Kiggly HLA PR and ARP headstuds for safety.

Post 187: Fuel pump rewire to keep oem 2 stage and give pump the full 13.8-14.2V from battery.

Post 288: my recommendations on installing head and setting timing belt.

Original post:

Getting ready for dual map tuning tomorrow. I just got my car back together last night. Started with Vishnu V400 with Injen pipes and filter. It baselined at 305 whp with leaky throttlebody.

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...23ecc4f82c.png

Since the baseline, I fixed the throttlebody leak and installed AMS FMIC (doesn't fit well with Injen pipes), HTA71, I ported the exhaust manifold and hotside myself while they were out, MAP O2 with ceramic coating (I matched the divider wall between wastegate and impeller ports with my turbo and rounded the flange where I can), crushed my stock DV, and added a spring to help the WGA stay closed. I did a leak test to 30 psi to 35 psi and tightened all my clamps (noticed that the AMS flanges are much softer and thinner than the Injen pipes because it dimpled where the tightening screws are - DOH!). For the tuning, I changed the oil and spark plugs.

Tomorrow, *local shop* will install 3 Port boost controller, RC 1200cc injectors, and AEM 320 lph fuel pump before tuning. Is there anything else I should do before the tuning?

I'll post the outcome once I get it.

Thanks!

What exhaust and intake are on the car? I forget what is included in the vishnu package as it hasn't been around in forever. Might be worth it to get a test pipe if you don't have one. Other than that setup should be fun. on E85 with the 71hta I made 450/400 at 30psi on my Evo IX. Car sure does rip. That was on the stock block and stock cams.

One of our local SoCalEvo's{thumbup}

Looks like youve got a lot of the bases covered. Didnt see what filter intake you have? Got to run the AEM or equivalent open intake to maximize the tune

Sorry guys, exhaust is Perrin. Has HFC and 3" DP (not sure if that's made by Perrin, but I doubt it). Intake is what I got from Injen SP1898 package.

Another 71hta :D Cant wait to see the results. Initially your list looks great.

I plan to always have a cat in the car. Don't need arterficial numbers. Too bad I won't know what my power is without the boost leak as baseline. When Shiv tuned it on TT dyno many years ago, I had him detune it from 315 to 305 whp for safety.

What's funny is I was supposed to have this tuned last week. I was assembling my exhaust and noticed mismatches on everything. I spent so much time getting the ports smooth and ended up doing a so-so job porting more to match the pieces. LOL.
Life always throws us curveballs!!

What is the torque limit for a completely stock IX engine (not even with ARP head bolts) on *local shop's* Dynapack? 430 ft-lbs?

From what I can find online, it looks like Dynapacks read 10-15% higher. Then I heard that Dynapack reads slightly lower than a nearby Dynojet. So I'm even more confused. :lol::lol::lol:

What made mine mate up really well is new couplers from siliconeintakes.com

Theyre dynapack def read higher when I was tuned by them

My problem is the J-pipe to LICP. They touch in coupler. The the other side has big gap to AMS FMIC. I can adjust so spacings are about same but angles won't line up with FMIC. It was so frustrating trying to get the couplers on so I ordered a 6" straight coupler. But the J-pipe still touches inside, so I'll probably make a small gap and deal with small misalignment with FMIC. Maybe my Injen was early version where they fit the E8 better. I'll check them out after tomorrow. Thanks!

I think 430 WTQ should be safe on their dyno then. When I ported my exhaust manifold, I honed #4 cylinder the least in hopes to keep the back pressure higher than the others. Hopefully, it's enough to prevent that cylinder from ingesting more air than the rest. Here's a picture of the other smoothed ports.

Yeah so what I did is put the coupler on j pipe first, then to the intercooler, the ones from the website I stated are longer than the injen so it helps give a bit more wiggle room to the j pipe

Update: added WGA spring will be removed before tuning because if it changes tension over time and from heat, I may need a dual map retune (didn't think about the inconsistency tension rates).

I doubt mine will get to your level especially starting out at only 305 and keeping a cat on. 450/400 is a lot and I don't know if the stock WGA will hold 30 psi with only a 3 port (I didn't add tension by turning the tip down more than stock, which is 2.5 turns from neutral). My engine has 56k miles and has not been touched other than timing belt last month. We will see tomorrow night! Can't wait! {OMG}{OMG}{OMG}

I'm planning to go to Fontana on 25th to see what times I can get as a granny shifter. :lol::lol::lol:
