Did you use the Dry Ice method to remove the sound deadening Thats in my opinion the best and probably only way to take care of it, but sometimes you do have some sticky stuff that just wont freeze up and harden so a wire wheel can be used to clean it up. If that is the case I would recommend to put some primer down over the bare metal spots and even repaint the area with what ever interior color you would like to do the inside of your car with

Dry ice makes the job VERY easy. Only took me about 30 minutes to remove all of mine way back when.

yes i definitely used dry ice. and the other stuff taht won't come out i just went to town with a flat head screwdriver and a light hammer. that's the part that took about 2 hours.

road noise above 70mph is a little bit louder but i dont mind.

And yes i will definitely paint the inside of it. gonna be light sanding and then primer and similar apex silver paint match from a spray can. i am just doing square pieces right where our feet are. nothing too major. I will be putting only the floor mat over it anyways. but the carpet i already trashed since it was smelly and dirty from previous owners.

I hate it when previous owners trashes the cars by "oh should i really do that??!!"

I even found a picture of him underneath the seat along with a gazillion coins and worst of all... CANDIES and NUTS. my evo is fortunate to have me. lighter and cleaner.

I love how easy and CLEAN it is when its done I have done a hand full of cars now and the worst was the last S2k race car I worked on Spent about 3 hours after doing about 45 min with the Dry ice getting what I could up I had to go back over a bunch of spots that for the life of me would not freeze up and stayed very soft and sticky O well Car looks good now

Nice to hear your are cleaning it up a bit I have a basically brand new carpet sitting above my office and then the cut up gutted one in the race car with the cage have a bolt in cage for now and once I do a weld in cage I will paint the whole inside and remove all of the carpet for good.

I think Paint matching is the best so it all looks clean, by the way

I don't think evodave would object much to the paint, but why didn't you remove ALL of the sound damping mats before you painted?

You left the big patch the wraps under the radio/HVAC area to both sides of the transmission tunnel up front as well as the little one under the E-brake cables/rear section of the center console.

Anyone have a good set of SM legal weight reduction items? I already have bolt-ons, exhaust, etc.

I am mostly looking for stuff that is legal to remove from the car. So far, I have only removed the EGR/EVAP system. Next up is the AC system and sound deadening and eventually the firewall carpet.

bleh. I have but its been a while...

Is the AC fan just for the AC or is it used to keep the radiator fluid cool at idle as well? I remember my dad removing the electric fan from my Jeep in high school and it would overheat at idle

There is a lot you can do in SM. All the suspension, brakes, removable body panels and engine is up for grabs on weight loss. A decent amount of the interior is too, just have to keep cosmetic panels, heater, and column stuff.
