Its not the same thing but a lot of hondas only run three. Usually they have three billet mounts with good poly inserts so I suppose whats the difference between an evo with two poly insert side mounts and a sold front mount?

The only thing that concerns me is the vast weight difference even between a 1g and an evo with only running three mounts. Id say at least 75 more lbs if not more. The stock rear evo mount kinda seems like a pos in my opinion. Next time im out in the garage Ill take a look at the stock rear mount, I remember it being pretty flimsy.

I would also love to remove the rear mount. I have all 4 torque solution mounts. If you have good mounts on the side and front especially I don't think the rear will really matter.

I'd be OK removing the front. But not the rear.

I won't eliminate any of the engine mounts.

I wish I could post pictures of my finalized work on the interior of my car............not ready to release the new build though.

Not that I was making enough power for it to be much of a concern, but I had the bolt vibrate out on me on the rear mount and I let it annoy the hell out of me for a month or so while I was busy with school. Made lots of noise due to the brackets hitting each other, but it never hurt anything. I'm on stock mounts and a harsh clutch. Pull the brackets out and it wouldn't make noise.

Can't say it wouldn't hurt anything in the long term though or with lots of power. I'd personally go for a modified bracket that could be added onto the longitudinal cross member. I think you could use the lower two bolt holes of the original mount and then an unused bolt hole on the bottom of the trans to make a much smaller mount.

If any of you guys doing wiring are interested in a mil-circular setup, I found a matching pair on ebay for under $100. It's 55 pins (22D size) though, which is pretty low. I think you could make a heavily stripped down harness fit that few of pins though.

PM me if interested.

FWIW, I managed about the same price for the next size up connector (66 pin) but it took about 2 months to finally get the second connector).

The place I get mine from I think sells them for $110 and you can get the shrink boot from them as well as anything else you need. P.R.S. was the company out of Michigan. Really good guys to work with.

I used a 55 pin for my harness and had a few pins left over.

I don't have my receipt in the house but if you want I can post part numbers.

edit: the only things I removed from my harness were emissions related and my ac wiring which shouldn't have been much if anything. I think a 55 pin is plenty unless someone is trying to keep the car completely stock and in this case if they are doing a mil connector it's anything but stock. I also ran my power wires for the alt/fuse box separate of the mil connector. I just disco my mil connector and my battery terminal and all my wiring is undone to pull the engine.

If it was the mil-spec connectors from PRS then it looks to be a MIL-C-26482 Series II connector. They are about half the price of the 38999 series connectors. Newark has the 55 pin matching pair for $105.

So what does 1/2 the price get you?
The MIL-26482 connectors use a larger 20AWG pin, which means each pin can handle 7.5 amps instead of 5 amps. Only downfall is it makes them less compact. For example, the same shell size as the connector you are using with 55 pins has 100 pins in the 38999 series connectors. Probably not really an issue for anybody though as they are still pretty compact.

Definitely a good option.
