Infinity Perfect 6.1's in the front powered by some mediocre alpine amp.

Does this thread have a point?

I am having some Polk MMC6500 6.5 components installed next week. They were $150 shipped from ebay and from what I've read they're as good as the Alpine type x's but not as good as the focals.

Ok, Ray,

Just finished the install and w/o the tweaking, my focals sounds like stock speakers. Disappointed w/ the outcome. It does'nt sound clean like the XRs I had.

My advise to you and to myself, get the JL XR comps!!! I can't believe even w/ the tweaking I would be happy w/ these. I'm running JL amps 150w/ch. It is heavy as ****, I can feel it weighting down on my suspension. And I am not happy w/ these NEW eclipse HU! Whatever happen to that clean simple old Eclipse HUs!!!

Fudge, I miss my old setup...

Yeah, Eclipse really went downhill. The only Focal speakers I really cared for were the $1000 and up sets . . . generally less impressed with JL though, speaker wise. Pioneer and Pioneer premier are putting out some really nice units nowadays. Which Focal's did you get?

The high end Focal did sound amazing! But I could'nt spend 1000 for them.

Nah, going back to stock, for now.

I may just compromise and run coaxials front w/ HU powered. Maybe add powered bozokas, to save weight.

Just don't like to waste more money or add weight.

If you're going to get comps, go with XRs. Great prices and execellent quality...

I think I'm going to go nuts this time around and go for a set of Boston Acoustics Pro 50s. I am going to run them with a Rockford Fosgate 60x4.

I had Polk dbs in my Galant and Alpine Type R's in my Eclipse and Polk>Alpine IMO. I hope the BA's blow them both away.
