Best Alarm System for Evo's?
I am often in an area that does not support LoJack (I didnt think there were 'areas' that didnt support LoJack, consider me educated) so I need an alarm system. I have seen Viper and CompuStar come up repeatedly. I like the idea of a 2-way system so when some ****bag is touching my car, I know it. However, I RUN A MINI BATTERY. I dont think I can run my radio for more than 15 min with the engine off, will I be able to run a 2-way system or any system at all??? Thanks all!
Lo-Jack is a theft recovery system and not an alarm system. Only when your car is stolen and you call in to activate it does Lo-Jack come into play. The other option they have is their early warning system which lets you know if your car has been started without the proximity key in range. Again, you have to call in to Lo-Jack and let them know to activate it so Police can track your vehicle. They boast a 95% recovery rate and some insurance companies will give you a discount if you have it. The early warning set-up is about 1K and the standard Lo-Jack is about $600-700. I personally run a Viper alarm (which can function as a turbo timer if you have the remote start feature) and have the Lo-Jack just in case someone outsmarts the alarm. Also it's important to point out Lo-Jack is a one time fee and there is no monthly monitor fee involved. Just my $0.02
I went with a two way remote called AUTOPAGE. I got it pretty cheap including labor. Its a decent brand and the range is enough! I didnt get the remote start feature though but I had the turbo timer added with different time range.

Holy crap, my thread is still alive. Funny.
I have loved my CompuStar for the most part, especially the autostart feature on this cold New England winter. It has some quirks (just make a new thread about my hood sensor) but other than that it's a solid alarm system.

stupid question, but i am considering an alarm right now too.
But how would the turbo timer interface with the alarm? will an alarm allow arming with the car still running? or would you need to wait till the countdown is done to arm it?
