aftermarket headunit wiring question ssl

just wondering for those thats running aftermarket with ssl package can help me out a little...i got the harness and the rca from metra everything hooked and sounds great but i keep getting a little whine even when headunit is on mute...i know there are parts out there to decrease distortion to your speakers but im on my third headunit and still get the whine..im thinking maybe i wire something wrong or could find a better location for wiring...so im wondering where do you guys unsually tap for the acc wire and ground wire? i tap acc on the stock clock and ground on the cig lighter..not sure if thats a good location to tap...

I put the ground under a nice bolt. Im not sure what it is, but it does sound like a slight wiring problem or if something may be backwards

i have a feeling its a wiring problem too but i just can't figure it out..the wiring is pretty straight forward with the power harness...its only 4 wires and the rca cable also has 4 rca inputs for speakers fr fl rr rl and a wire for power on...i feel like its pretty plug and play but not sure what went wrong...

also this current unit uses 4 volt preamp output so i would think it would reduce alot of distortion noise from speakers...weird thing is i can't completely mute the headunit...when i turn volume all the way to zero or mute..i can still hear sound coming through the speakers

Situation-dependent, but usually makes no difference at all.

Is the mute function configured for -20dB? Which HU is it?
