Double Din Head Units 2015

Couldn't find a more recent thread about this - seems there are a lot of inexpensive 2din head units available out there now running some flavor of Android:

Amazon.com : JOYING Quad Core Hd 1024*600 Resolution Kitkat Automotive 7 Inch 2 Din Android 4.4.4 Car Stereo Radio Audio Without Dvd Player GPS Navigation Universal in Dash Capacitive Muti-touch Screen Support/bluetooth/sd/bluetooth/wifi/obd2/1080p/dvr/steering-wheel/air Play/mirror Link/16gb Rom Rk3188, free 8gb USB : Car Electronics Amazon.com : JOYING Quad Core Hd 1024*600 Resolution Kitkat Automotive 7 Inch 2 Din Android 4.4.4 Car Stereo Radio Audio Without Dvd Player GPS Navigation Universal in Dash Capacitive Muti-touch Screen Support/bluetooth/sd/bluetooth/wifi/obd2/1080p/dvr/steering-wheel/air Play/mirror Link/16gb Rom Rk3188, free 8gb USB : Car Electronics

This is one I'm looking at. Anyone have any experience with a decent one they want to share, confirmed to work with Mitsu/Evo as far as powering up and all that goes?

// 9/16/15 end result here!

front end wise the specs look good. Coming from the car stereo install world i can say that the lack of specs on the stereo part itself is kind of a red flag to me. I wouldn't want to buy something and then it sounds like *** after installing it.

Yah the chips for the audio are certainly on the low end of the scale, but i mean at that price thats to be expected. It really depends on the rest of your stereo too. If you have alot invested in it, then i wouldn't recommend this. At least not by itself, you could probably augment it with some external equipment.

Its a good find, specs look great otherwise. Being what it is though I wouldn't expect it to last forever. I guess with the way things are today you could just treat it like a phone, use it for a while and just upgrade it when the next new thing comes out.

Amazon.com : Pioneer AVH-X2700BS 6.2" Double-DIN DVD Receiver with Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, SiriusXM Ready, Android Music Support & Pandora Internet Radio : Automotive Amazon.com : Pioneer AVH-X2700BS 6.2" Double-DIN DVD Receiver with Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, SiriusXM Ready, Android Music Support & Pandora Internet Radio : Automotive

Been pretty happy with my Pioneer AVH-X2700BS, think I got it on special for $220. Whatever you get, make sure the screen is anti reflective. CoWorker bought a cheaper double din only to return and buy the same one I got because he couldn't see the screen at all during daylight due to glare.

i don't think any of those are right, one of the connectors in #2 might work. You should just pick up a wiring harness from Scosche or Metra. the colors are generic so its easy to match them to your stereos harness. Check their sites for the correct part number.

Hmm thanks for the info. This is a little complicated it seems

Checking the Scoche website for our cars, there is:

http://www.scosche.com/car-audio/car...elect-vehicles

http://www.scosche.com/car-audio/94-mit-pwr-spk-car-hrn

http://www.scosche.com/car-audio/94-mit-pwr-spk-oe-radi

Not sure how M102B and M102RB can both match the car, seeing as how they look very different. I guess the universal connector is the safest bet? And how will I know if that fit's the media device I'm looking at?

Thanks for all the help guys

you want the first one you listed. The second one claims to be a speaker harness which our radios dont need, and the third is actually a replacement for the factory pigtail that plugs into the stock radio(some installers are ghetto and cut this off when doing a radio instead of using a harness, so this is to repair that).

thats the radio side of the harness. You will wire that together with the scosche harness to plug into the factory pigtail. The colors should all match up red to red yellow to yellow etc etc..

gotcha - one last question (maybe) - i'm trying to find the scosche on amazon - is this the correct one?

Amazon.com: SCOSCHE '89 Up Import/Jeep/Mitsubishi Car Stereo Connector: Car Electronics Amazon.com: SCOSCHE '89 Up Import/Jeep/Mitsubishi Car Stereo Connector: Car Electronics

this second one seems to be correct according to amazon:

Amazon.com: Scosche MI02B Speaker Connector for Mitsubishi/Dodge, 1994-Up: Car Electronics Amazon.com: Scosche MI02B Speaker Connector for Mitsubishi/Dodge, 1994-Up: Car Electronics

or is it the reverse harness:

Amazon.com : Scosche Reverse Wiring Harness for 1991-Up Mitsubishi Power/Speaker Connector : Vehicle Wiring Harnesses : Car Electronics Amazon.com : Scosche Reverse Wiring Harness for 1991-Up Mitsubishi Power/Speaker Connector : Vehicle Wiring Harnesses : Car Electronics

finally he's asking if our cars support canbus or not... no idea

This is the right one. No our cars are not Canbus, only the evo x is.
