Will Alpine Type-S speakers fit?
I have a USDM Evo IX SE... looking to replace the speakers and headunit.
I'd like to get the Alpine 6.5" Type-S Speakers for the front and rear (Alpine SPS-17C2 ), but Crutchfield says they won't fit... - Has anyone installed Type-S speakers into an Evo? - Do they really not fit, or is it just that you can't put the Alpine grill over the speakers? - Do they require modification to fit? I'm looking to power them from a Pioneer DEH-P5900IB. {thumbup} Thanks! |
We can make anything fit. If AMS and Buschur can fit a 42r under the hood, we can get an Alpine type-s to fit. Word!!
|
They'll fit as they are less than 2.5" deep. If I fit Alpine Type Xs, you can fit the Type-S.

Yes, they fit. You will need an adapter plate cuz the cutout is for a 6.75"

Thats funny I have a set of these sitting in my room.Thought about putting em in.Maybe Ill give it a try.

I put in 5 and a quater without using plates... The screws with a washer can just be used to wedge it in.
I had plates, but couldn't stop the rattling. (I had kicker ss by the way) |
FYI... 6.5" Alpine Type-S speakers fit easily.
The included bracket works perfect. You just need to snap two of the hole flanges on the bracket off (it comes setup for unneeded flanges to brake off easily). They attach with three screws instead of 4, but there is no major rattling. |
No major rattling is good. But is it sealed to the door correctly. I use 2 sided tape or good moldable weather stripping between the door and mounting ring. Then I use the supplied foam tape between the ring and the speaker. Most people dont have to take these steps but I do. Im glad it all worked out for you. Happy motoring bro.
