Alarm won't work after new windsheild

So I got a new windshield installed the other day and when I went to arm my alarm it wouldn't work. I checked the antenna that was attached to the windshield and the wires are still ok. Any ideas?

I also noticed that the alarm isn't locking and unlocking the doors when the car is started also. So basically the alarm isn't working at all. The warranty guy from the windshield company came out and said that I would have to get an estimate and something saying that the guy installing it f'ed it up. He them proceeded to say "yeah, sometimes these alarms just quit working", l find it hard to believe that I used my alarm to open the car for the technician and after it wont work is a coincidence.

track down the antenna cable its possible the antenna or cable was damaged during removal seen it happen quite a few times

x2 I agree.. the cable must have been cut, stripped or pinched somewhere along the line. They had to have pulled your A-pillar plastic pieces off and possibly damaged the antenna wire when clipping them back in or when cutting the old windshield out.

hope this helps,

Nick

Yeah, I did that the same night it stopped working. The cables look good all the way to the alarm itself.

Some times your remote gets unsynced with the code that transmits to the brain installed in your your car. Try holding the lock button down for some time and then let go. Then try to lock it again. If that doesn't work try resetting everything by taking the negative wire off the terminal of the battery wait like 30 secs and put it back on then try to lock the doors again. Te other problem is that a fuse might have blown. Check all fuses on your alarmsystem theres two that go to mine.

Note** the steps aboved worked for me when my alarm just stopped working.

If this doesn't work what do you have installed in your car?
Ex.) viper

Ok, I tried the battery reset, holding the button, and the fuses are all good. Its an autopage alarm and I've never had a problem with it for 3 years until the day that they guy did the windshield. I'm stumped! :crap:

It might sound stupid, but did you try replacing the battery in the remote? If so make sure it was a good battery and it wasn't dead

Yeah, I did that today, traced the wires all the way from the brain to the antenna, they looked good. I'm going to shoot them with a multimeter tomorrow and see what I find.

Does the alarm have a backup battery? Maybe that died?
