Double DIN options?

I am looking to install a double din AV unit in my car and i am curious about the new android OS systems coming onto the market to compete with the heavy hitters(Alpine/Kenwood/Pioneer) i was wondering if any one has had any experience or any comments/concerns about picking up a unit similar to the one in the video below....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHbsr6LCpE8

I have a Kenwood double din in my IX, but if Android OS car stereos start becoming more popular... I am definitely in. Google maps, wireless connectivity, OBD-II aps... Im excited to see where this goes!!

I've been looking into getting a 7" Android Tablet as a replacement for everything. AFAIK, most, if not all of the 7" tablets fit perfectly in a double DIN enclosure.

A member here has done this too: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...droid-evo.html

^^ i think the only problem with those setups are that they require a lot of wiring etc to get it fully integrated into the system, also considering power source etc

Not much, just need a power source (probably tap into a fuse box or something) for the charger and a 3.5mm to RCA adapter :D

this is the exact type of unit i am looking for , yeah it would be pretty cool to pull up outside of starbucks or browse the free wifi while in the drive through for MCdonalds . also thanks for the feedback and comments. does any one have any info as far as release dates, every where has prototype reviews but very few products for sale.

yup- exactly. i've been waiting for this for a while, i can be patient though - once it comes out its gonna blow these kenwoods and pioneers out of the water unless they do something major to update their windows 95 styled systems

Even the AppRadio is fairly limited in what it can do. What I don't understand is why one of the bigname manufacturers don't build a double DIN unit based on a full blown Android tablet. You can get some nice tablets nowadays for $300..
