Best Place to Wire Defi's

Cliff notes - Need to know the best connection points for wiring Defi's

So I had someone who was once very active on the forum wire my Defi's in my dash with a Gruppe-s pod to hold them.

They are 60mm Imperial (Blackout face) boost, EGT, and OP gauges along with the controller and something is up with them because they kept turning off and I would jiggle the controller and they would come back on...

Anyways, I did a 6 to 5 spd swap and the problem was even worse afterwards and now they wont turn on at all so I have the pleasure of pulling everything apart and will probably find a complete crap initial wiring job and I will do everything correctly as its what winds up happening with every car I own. I pay someone to do it for me expecting them to treat it and wire it like their own and it turns out to be completely half assed....

Anyways. Sorry for the rant but i need to know the best places to run the wiring for these so I dont wind up toasting the battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, is that just for the control unit or the gauges as well? Or does only the controller get wired in and the gauges run off the controller?? I dont know this info, its been a long time and I wasnt there when the guy did it

Thanks Golgo. Sorry let try asking this. Do the gauges light up and run off of the controller or are they also wired separately as well?

I would say locate the controller and follow the power wire to the source and the ground. If it's using an Add-a-circuit it might be simply loose.

If your gauges work fine, but they cut out, then most likely the connectors are loose.

I'd simply go through all of them, and redo/replace them. Crimp them properly, get a 40 watt soldering iron and solder all connectors with their wires. Also, check over the wires as one of them might have gotten broken or cut from something moving behind the dash.

Thanks, yea I think the guy who put them in just did a really half assed job
