EVO 8 Randomly won't start

I'm having a problem where my evo 8 won't start, but it doesn't happen all the time. I have been trying to see a pattern to when it won't start but it seems completely random. I started the car up this morning and it cranked right away. Then I drove to get something to eat and on the way back home I stopped to get some spark plugs. After I got the spark plugs the car wouldn't start. I was in the store for about 10 mins. The altenator is good, the battery is good (but on it's last 1/4 of it's life after < 1 year), and the starter is kicking out but not spinning. If I get the car jumped off from someone else's car it works all the time. I have a viper alarm with a pager fob, exhaust and intake. It was doing this before I put the exhaust and intake on but it's done to the car so I'll put it down. Any help would be much appreciated.

Check the terminal connections to the batter. Make sure they are clean and tight. This happened to me a week ago. My terminals were corroded and loose.

You also may want to check the starter signal wire. Mine did this for a while due to a loose wire connected to the starter.

I am going to bet it's the alarm.
I scored a probe GT for free when I was younger.(had a viper alarm)
It wouldn't start, girl said she drove it to work and when she went to leave it just wouldn't start.

Long story short, I took it, towed it home, put a new battery in it, still wouldn't start.. got pissed ripped out the alarm, started right up.

Cleaned it up, sold her ;)

I had the same issue abd I have a viper alarm also. I got under the car and tightened the wires to the starter and bingo problem is gone.
