Defi EGT and VSD concept quick review

Hi,

I just finished installing the Defi egt (thank Z1 performance) and VSD concept (thanks Works). I purchased the egt guage from Z1 earlier this year but didn't have the guts to drill and tap the manifold. Works had the VSD on sale and I couldn't pass up on the deal. It was unnerving but I taped the manifold w/ engine running. Installing the VSD required that I tap into the ECU for tach and speed. So I decided to get ECU field harness (again thanks to Z1). I called Z1 (Adam?) ~ 1pm and the part was waiting for me the next day when I got home from work!!! Talk about service.

The VSD is simply amazing. I've only driven the car at night but the display is very clear and it does help to keep your eyes focused on the road. You still have to glance slightly down but I am already able to notice the numbers with my peripheral vision. I've attached pics. Enjoy!

Excellent, I was just looking for something with the VSD.

How hard was it to install? What all wiring do you have to run?

Hi boomn29,

The install of the VSD is very simply if you've already installed a DEFI boost guage. The VSD Concept is designed to work as a stand alone for RPM and Speed or can also diplay DEFI guage info with Defi Link II. Like I said in my post I used an ECU harness extension to tape into the speed and rpm signals. I believe there's already a How To's for the guage install (not sure about the VSD). I actually used the Vishnu install for the Xede to get at the ECU. I maybe doing the Exede or Utec next. It would be easier for me to answer if you had specific questions on the intall. Hope this helps and good luck. glfingbug

Thanks!
I have installed a Defi boost guage, but I'm not running the Link system. So, somehow I'd need to tap in to get the RPM and speed.
