Hello everyone, newbie here,
This may have been discussed before (and if so I apologize please point me to the right thread because I've looked and searched *exhausted*).
I've seen so many different intakes/filters and exhaust systems that I would like to see what ppl out there in the community like/dislike as far as price/performance etc, etc. These are the first two things I thought I would upgrade on my '03 Evo (unless there is a better route that some would suggest).
As far as intakes are concerned, I like the idea of a heat shield. I've seen some from K&N, Perrin, and even Apexi (they make an intake box?).
As for the exhaust, I think a full turbo back is the way to go. Many choices here as well, however, 3" is what I would like.
So, I love to see what ppl recommend/suggest. It's always the best way instead of getting the experience of wasting money on stuff that doesn't work and spend more later on something that does (did that at times with my GSX), I'd like to get the wisdom to make the right choices the first time around.
*update* It was brought to my attention that I will need to do a reflash if I want to go with an open air filament. So with that said, suggestions on reflashes, what have ppl liked. This is definately something I want to do once.
Thanks for the time and space,
Joey

Turbo back is definately the way to go. I just put my helix downpipe, testpipe and megan racing catback on about 2 weeks ago. It is a huge difference! For the price I'd say go with either my setup (for turboback) or a full helix setup. I went with the megan catback because I saved about $100, and its made of the same materials as the helix catback, with the same bends.
As for intake , from what I have heard , if your not gonna want to do it unless youre planning on reflashing your ecu. You can lose torque using an intake untuned. If you don't plan on doing a reflash, just get a k&n panel filter. If you do, you got alot of options. One in particluar I'm looking at is the hks racing suction intake kit along with the hks kansai carbon ram air intake (like what is in the car stock, but a little larger). You can fit cone filters in it and you won't get all that hot air in the engine bay going through your intake. Thats my .02, good luck!

First the exhaust. I love it. I guess it sounds a little like the helix catback, but a little deeper I think. Its kind of strange. When I accelerate the pitch goes high when I release the clutch to deep low and then gradually increasing in pitch as the speed increases. I first bought the downpipe for $250 from gruppe-s and then the megan catback for $385 from lancershop, and then the helix test pipe for $140 from gruppe-s.
As for the intake deal I think bulletproofautomotive.com and vividracing.com carries the hks c/f ram air and rs suction. Probably a few other vendors , but I cant think of any at the moment.
