Drilling holes in the firewall...

Where did you drill?

Obviously it's a pretty simple concept, just want to see what others did

What are you trying to do?
You may not need to drill. If you look in your engine bay behind the passenger strut tower, there is a rubbeer stopper in the firewall. You can push that out and run wires, tubes, or anything else through it.

I drilled through a couple spots to run power wire to the amp and vacuum to the boost gauge...all you have to do is look inside to make sure you're not gonna hit something. Start out with a tiny drill bit and work up in steps, when you're done just put in a rubber gasket.

Yea, that's what I plan on, I'm just looking for ideas, that's all.

No need to drill. There is an unused hole and plug on the extreme right side. Look on the firewall.

the passenger side is hard to get to but i have 3 18ga wires, vacuum, cat5 and egt wires going through it. i drilled it with a 3/8 bit. i had to grab it from the inside with needle nose pliers. you'll have to remove glove box and kick panel.

Exactly! What sense does it make to drill when that unused hole is already there?

I have a vacuum/boost line and oil temp sensor wires running through that hole as well. I didn't have any trouble running them. I simply ran a piece of corrugated plastic conduit through it, then just passed the wires and line through that. Voila!

Well, that's different. In any case, I'd rather enlarge the existing hole in question and run plastic conduit through as opposed to drilling another hole.

there are 2 big rubber plugs; one on each side of the car under the sides of the dash, accesible through the fenderliners.

I'd figure out a way to either disassemble the plug or cut and reattach the plug or before I'd drill a large enough hole to pass the connector through. If the hole behind the strut tower isn't large enough you could always go through the fender route. There's more than enough room in the grommet where the door wires pass through.

Well I'm going to drill regardless, and I'm pretty sure I know where. I'd like to keep all the wires clean looking and I dont want wires crossing the engine bay only to cross back the cabin.

Thanks for the o2 sensor grommet idea, I forgot about that one!

Any progress on this? I'm about to install the Hallman MBC with in-car controller and I will have to drill. I already have a vacuum line and 4-guage power wire for the sub through the factory hole behind the strut tower. Preferably pics of where to drill on the driver's side (since that's where I'm mounting the knob).
