question for Al, or those w/"stock" tune

i'm sure this has been asked before...

i picked up a mail in flash last thanksgiving, for a stock car. I'm finally getting around to modifying it and I'm curious how far i can go on the "stock" flash before looking into a custom tune.

adding in a couple days -
3" turboback
mbc - how much boost to redline w/"stock" tune - 19 psi?

sorry if this is a semi-stupid ?... but i feel naked without my dsmlink

gracias

I would suggest running no high than stock boost without fuel pump upgrade.

I did the same thing. I had the first stock 04 flash. I upgraded to HKS RS intake and 3" TB exhaust. The car ran fine. When I installed a MBC, and fuel pump I got the mail in flash for my mods. After the mail in flash the car was quick, and I was very pleased. Now I want a custom street tune for my new FMIC.

so there's no difference between when al tunes for a stock car, and when he's tuning for a car with a TBE and MBC? i guess that's the core question.

there is a Big difference. Skip the stock tune put on the MBC & TBE then get it tuned.

My car has a stock tune, and a boost controller set at 20.5 psi.
I was told that the stock tune worked well with a mbc - by Al when he drove my car.
As for the exhaust. I installed a cat-back with my flash and it worked well. Power was good. I do not have the exhaust anymore, it was mufflerless and was too loud.
If you are going to remain stock, or stock with a cat-back or mbc, the stock tune will be ok. Actually, I think Al has specials where you get a stock tune and Halman MBC for 200 or 210 bucks.
If you are going to add a lot of mods (TBE, and stuff), do what the one guy said and get tuned for that.

dammit... i was really under the impression that i wouldn't need to really get it re-tuned till i put cams/intake/fuel pump/injectors on the car (all at once with custom flash)

can someone else chime in that's been through this situation... someone has to have been??
