Trying to pass inspection...

With the new NYS inspection where our car must be plugged into a computer and connected to DMV, I fear my car will have quite a hard time passing. I have an RMR turbo-back exhaust with a straight pipe & RMR intake. Would any old aftermarket cat fit onto my exhaust system? Has anyone with an evo and an aftermarket exhaust/intake passed NYS inspection?

I know when my time comes I'm just going to put my stock cat on and hope that I pass. I can't help you with the NY question.

As far as I know, her in Indiana they just plug your car in and check for CEL's and do a visual inspection for the cat. If thats the case, I'll be putting mine back on and go test it out.

Hello I am a NYSI for diesel emissions, dyno emissions test,OBD II test.We have all three testing equipment.Your 1996 and newer (OBD) II cars, the first FIVE ways to fail are (KOEO) key on engine off test. This test is to see if your CEL light comes on when you turn on the key.Second test is (KOER) key on engine running. If the CEL light is on while running it will fail. The third test will fail if the computer has commanded the MIL to light.Malfunction Indicator Lamp.(CEL). The fourth way is if the testing equipment cannot communicate with the vehicle's computer. The fifth way is there are to many Readiness monitors reported as "Not Ready".The specific monitors that are not ready will be listed on the receipt.I could explain to you in person about (Readiness) monitors because I could go on for hour's typing about them, and how to set them. The inspection station will issue you a 10 day extension if you fail.OBTW I just picked up a 05-Wicked-White RS last night, and I love it.
