Also, the warmer the air temps, the better chance I'll hear it. And if I drive a long distance (especially at higher speeds) I'll hear it sometimes. But I've not had any issues yet. *knocks on wood*

I just recently had this issue as well. I've had my Walbro installed for a year and a half, and just two days ago, it whined for the first time. It was whining so loud that I could hear it over my exhaust, it was ridiculous! It made no sense to me because it had never whined previously, and there's no reason why it would whine now.

Strangely enough, it stopped whining the next day and I haven't heard since... I wonder if the quality of the fuel might have an effect on it? (though it shouldn't)

I had this happen after driving 15 plus hours to Florida. We stopped at the hotel and as it was idling it was soooo loud. After I turned it off and went out later it was fine. That is the only time it happened. Maybe it was just really hot...

The vendor told me to return it for a replacement.

Like I have the time to pull the pump out, send it back, wait for replacement, and reinstall it.
If I have to pull it out, I'll replace it with something else.
I just left a message for Lancershop.com's techs to return a call to me, hopefully they'll consider helping me along with a replacement pump as well, worth a shot at this point.
