I was goin with an ARC box till a deal fell thru.
Now Im looking at that and the HKS unit and I cant decide.
I think I am gonna go with the HKS cause the ARC may not work with some upper intercooler pipes I hear.

honestly i think its too hot under the hood to put an open filter intake under there... maybe im being paranoid but im going to skip it for now its not like it gives u this huge performance increas anyways :/

Hks are known for good products plus you can get the kansani how ever you spell it cools it alot and gives it a nice look under hood. If you want jdm and good numbers then go arc. i havethe hks because its cheaper and gives good h.p gains

Yeah, I'm sticking with the K&N panel filter inside the stock housing. Nowadays, these intakes seem like more of a bling issue than a performance issue. Not to mention the ever-so-useful WHOOOOOOOOOOOSH. I admit, I love hearing the spool and purge, but it's not worth getting a full open-air intake replacement.

well, we've all heard that the cone filters on an evo causes a disturbance in the MAF sensor, supposedly. I have no way of proving this, but maybe one of the tuners that believes this can step in and fill in the blanks. So my guess is go with the arc or a better drop-in filter with the the stock box swiss cheesed or buy the adapter that makes your stock boxes open to the air. by doing this. supposedly, there won't be any disturbance. I plan on getting rid of my cone filter and seeing if it make a difference. I plan on going with a arc, or a stock airbox with a custom intake tube to replace the stock unit. I'll post my results once I get a chance to change everything back. my car just currently dyno'd 305.6 whp(dyno dynamics) around 340-350whp on a dynojet.. yesterday. I'm eventually gonna retune without the cone filter and use one of the two setups I mentioned above, and see if it makes a difference.

I've been told that with the cone filter setup. if it's tuned correctly it will make power, but it's just a little more aggervating when tuning.

Hey, I'm curious about this statement and your sig. Are you saying you dyno'd on both dynos, one giving a 305.6 and the other 340-350, or are you saying that 305.6 on the dyno dynamics is equivalent to 340-350 on a dynojet? I'm assuming the latter.

yes, I dyno 305 whp on the dyno dynamics. witch is equivalent to around 340-350whp on a dynojet. dyno dynamics usually read about 12-15% lower the all other dyno's, in most cases.

well, yes and no. it's all in how they are callibrated. If i'm not mistaken, if your dynoing at dyno4mance on their Dyno dynamics dyno. then go to Vishnu and dyno on there dyno dynamics with the same gas. your numbers should be pretty close to the same. given the same conditions on both dyno's. but the general concences is that the dyno dynamics is USUALLY gonna read the lowest of all dyno's, then the mustang is usually next, then the dynojet, and then the dyno pak is usually the highest, but that's not exact by any means. just an estimate.

from what i've read as well, open air filters create some drivability issues. a K&N drop in filter is a safe choice that will increase airflow. i say if you want to increase airflow, get that Kansai Carbon Air Box.

are you using the stock intake tube or does the arc come with one.

Your forget to factor in the MASSIVE ducts and vents on the Nose and hood of the evo. It is designed to suck up the air and blow it through the hood, your fine, especially at 70++++MPH.
