That is the spring snapping in place as it re-seats on the spring perch.

When you go check your suspension, check how the strut assembly is put together, not just the bolts that hold the assembly to the chassis and control arm.

Make sure everything is seated properly, and when you jack the car up, make sure the spring doesnt "free float" when there is no load on it. It should have at least some pre load.

I have an EVO 6..had a similar clunking noise when I turned my steering....thought it was like suspension or cv joint...took 2 weeks to findout...turned out to be 3 broken bolts in my center diff!! (This has happened twice in my car)

If you check everything and still have the problem, u might need to check inside your transfer case...the center diff.

I'm still gonna stand firm on the rock in the suspension belief, being that mine constantly comes and goes... there's a million things on the Evos that make the suspension creak and clunk

but this isnt something that is coming and going, it could easily be something in the suspension but it isnt the clunking that people have complained of before, this is a consistent clunk with a turn of the wheel in any gear at any speed. the thing that scares me the most about it is when i go from a stop and it clunks a few times with each chatter of my worn clutch, however this scenario doesnt happen nearly as frequent

yeah i have the same problem when driving slow in first or reversing. it sounds like it has something to do with the gears. i'm thinking its the clutch or transfer case. is there any way to fix this.

Has anyone figured out what this is? I have the same issue on a 2005 GSR, all stock with 36K miles. Starting to get a pop/clunk from the front end when starting out, turning at low speed......

Thanks for bringing this thread back to life. Last week mine started doing the same but I could not confirm this until last night after some new mods testing. Looks like she is going back under the knife today.
