GT3076 Owners: Please post opinions...

i have been researching turbo kits for a while now and i think i might end up with this one. i would appreciate it if you could post your experiences so far with the kit in all aspects from daily driving to performance. i want to purchase this kit and run pump gas and alky only.

I'm totally loving mine. I went down to MAC a few days ago and did a little tuning. I squeezed out 424hp/345tq on 91 (Wyoming) Octane. The reason I mention where it was from is because in past instances it's proven to be pretty unstable and inconsistant. This stuff seemed to be ok, but I think theres a little more to be had in regards to peak power (not much though). There is however a ton to be gained below 5000RPM.

I'm completely impressed with everything. The spoolup isn't bad at all even considering I havent dialed in the the AFR for that span of RPM.

This thing is an absolute beast on the freeway.

The 3076 is a great street turbo. It spools well and make a good amount of power over the stocker.

what are you using to tune your car? are you going to purchase an alky kit? ive heard that with alky and that turbo, you could be around 500whp. One question i have is why are aftermarket turbo torque numbers low? also, what is the benefit of having an external wastegate compared to an internal one?

an external wastegate is able to withstand more boost pressure compared to an internal.

Check out my cardomain page (www.cardomain.com/id/justdsm4) for a mod list. It's pretty complete.

I'm not really wanting to say what I use to tune my car just yet. The folks who were there know, but I'd kinda like to keep it hush for the time being. I'm doing that as courtiousy for the company. It's not something he wants to be mainstream. It's a "custom" setup you could say.

I'm not really a fan of alky. I think I'll just create a seperate map for race gas and do that. I don't drive the car a whole lot as it is and purchasing a barrel (55gal) of race gas would be ideal. I could just keep racegas in the car all the time. I put maybe 1000 miles a year on my car during a normal year.

I have no doubt this turbo could pump out 500hp on alky or race gas with the proper tuning to support it.

My torque numbers look a little low for a few reasons. One: My BOV was leaking pressure. I am using the Forge valve and had the yellow spring installed with no shims. You could hear it chirping away as I made the passes. The second thing is my AFRs/timing below 5000RPM. I didn't tune much of the RPM band below 5000. I focused a little more on the top end. I'll have the car ready for another session on the dyno soon and post more impressive torque figures. I do however think 425 or thereabouts is all I can squeeze on mysetup w/ Wyoming's 91 octane.

As someone else mentioned. The external wastegate is much better at controlling/regulating boost pressures than an interal gate. My boost reaches it's peak, and does not fluctuate AT ALL. No spike, no creep, anything. It hits its target boost and stays put. PERIOD.

Thats with a Hallman Pro valve and a TiAL 38mm gate.

Because a $30K car is a 200K Ferrari to my budget. Does that help you understand?
